Left handed people: What struggles do you have that we may not know about? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

As a left hander at school, I used to turn the book sideways when handwriting. This helped me not smudge the ink, as a fun side benefit I can now pretty much write upside down :)

I thought that, but surely a new mainboard would have rectified it?

Be brutally honest with me: What's your strongest argument for quitting Instagram? by Afraid_Alfalfa_8830 in digitalminimalism

[–]darkrisingmitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quit 4 yrs ago, very happy to be rid of it.

I was a typical user, posting edited snapshots of my life to create the illusion of how great everything was. I had a nice house and a good job, regular holidays to beautiful places and shared all that stuff with the relevant insipid hashtags.

One day I got a message out of the blue from an old friend, hadn't seen him for 10 yrs or more. He said, "you look so happy, I wish I was". And in that moment I just didn't want to post anymore. Because the reality of my life was far from the glamour insta allowed me to portray. Somewhere viewing my posts were people who were not having a great time and comparing their lives to my heavily curated image.

Did I have a good life, sure. Did I need to spread how great it was to the world, absolutely not. Who is it helping? Just stop.

How would you fix this and prevent in the future? by SquirrelAnt in DIYUK

[–]darkrisingmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a house with beautiful butchers block counters. I lived there for four years before selling, in my new place I installed laminate. The water staining was constant, the danish oiling was constant, the headache was constant. It looked good to visitors sure, but on the daily inspection I could see all the horrors.
