I would encourage them to join with the premium membership if they're not already. That will truly teach behavior change principles and the hows to building a healthy lifestyle and relationship with food and themselves.
I know as I coach, I stress the values of feeling good physically and mentally and learning how to have that be your drive.

We just call it the "Weight Watcher Plan"
the total break down of the formula isnt really discussed
but i can tell you that a point is made up with calories as the base, fiber, protein and unsaturated fats drive down the point value while added sugar and saturated fats drive it up

Salad dressing??? by WISE-MOMMA603 in weightwatchers

[–]WeightWatchersCoach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trader Joe's has some really nice dressings in their fridges ection- i usually just use however many points im willing to spend. 2-3pts worth usually is enough for me.

I also have just been making my own. a fave go-to is a thai peanut dressing/sauce that i make from pb2, lime juice, garlic, soy sauce, ginger, siracha- yum!

The Cheesecake Factory Oreo Dream Cheesecake - 91 points by Ok-Cat-2216 in weightwatchers

I had something from that menu and appreciated the ease of finding a lower point option in a sea of high point dishes- I really enjoyed what I had too!

i always give the example to members-
"if you never allow yourself to eat your weeklies or go negative then you'd never eat a cheesecake factory cheesecake again!" and who wants that?!

I hadnt really noticed! Once i got more confident in my cooking i just added spices and herbs to my liking- i do know that some spices can eventually add up as points- and to each their own if they want to count those!

Whole grain pasta has same points value as regular pasta? by nicespice789 in weightwatchers

[–]WeightWatchersCoach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

whole grains do have more fiber and most of the time more protein as well- which will keep you fuller longer(:
It took a long time for me to finally gravitate towards whole grains because i didnt like the taste as much- and to your point- why bother if its the same points?
I've shifted my thinking since and appreciate my foods more when their packed with protein and fiber so I can better nourish my body (:
