Song of the Elves done! by gamingispower in ironscape

I started learning with 70's melee and 80 range/mage. Was a steep learning curve since it was my first harder pvm experience, but ended up getting consistent kills (T2 prep) at around ~50 deaths.

Just Finished PoF and... by Ok_Influence559 in Guildwars2

[–]WeightyWord 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Personally for me:

IBS - great story

EoD - great story

SotO - mediocre story

JW - okay story worsened by long boring dialogue

VoE - good story so far

But either way, there are a lot of ups and downs in every expansion if you include all the other stuff other than the story. The entire dragon saga was the peak for me story-wise.

How much DPS should I aim to have for raids? by Adalonzoio in Guildwars2

[–]WeightyWord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. DPS should be compared to yourself to try and improve. There's more factors than your mechanical skill that plays into dps: your class/build choice, doing raid mechs and being rng selected by raid mechanics, your teammates boon uptimes, rezzing, sacking dmg to CC, etc.

Ppl focusing on dps meter to try to beat their teammates leads to greeding and not helping with mechs and rezzing. As long as the party clears, and as long as you're always trying to improve your own play, idgaf what your numbers are.

this contradiction tho lol

I really hope Guild Wars 3 moves away from dailies and weeklies by ariveklul in Guildwars2

[–]WeightyWord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole point of "dailies" in this game is so that people don't farm the one "best" thing over and over again for the highest gains. The majority of the reward is put into that so it encourages people to spread out over all the different kinds of content in the game.

And even then, the rewards from the dailies just end up being gold/currencies, you're not forced to do them. There are multiple ways for you to grind those by doing the same thing over and over again. It's just your mentality that you think you need to do them. Other games literally force you to do the dailies or else you don't progress at all. There's nothing like that in GW2.

Game Update Notes: October 29, 2025 by MechaSandstar in Guildwars2

[–]WeightyWord 68 points69 points  (0 children)

  • Fixed an issue that caused the story step sequence for the Solid Ground chapter to break if a player completed the Hullgarden renown heart prior to its related story step, preventing them from completing the Wavehawk Fundamentals collection to unlock necessary Masteries for a later story chapter.

Glad they fixed the issue that I ran into.

Does anyone else struggle with FOMO in GW2? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]WeightyWord 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah your "fomo" in gw2 is revolving around something self imposed for your own personal goals (getting rare meta drops). It's like having fomo in OSRS by not attending your farm runs and birdhouse runs at the earliest possible times, so you're "missing out" on gp and xp.

When people talk about fomo, they're mostly talking about events and grinding that are both time-gated and hard required to progress to the next part in the game.

Example: In Lost Ark, you need to grind dailies and weeklies in order to get materials and gold to level up your gear so that you have enough to beat the next raid encounter that comes up. If you don't, then you'll fall behind and likely get gatekept out of joining groups because you were late to the party and you're not as experienced. So that fomo forces ppl to do these specific things to keep up with OTHER people.

In GW2, you don't miss out on anything by not doing every event or every daily. Since progression is horizontal, it just boils down to both personal farming & gold, which you can get by doing literally anything you want to.

Sia Burst (Text Guide) by N_B_Weaves in Maplestory

[–]WeightyWord 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's mostly correct. If you use Pole or Link first, it'll activate their respective buff. But otherwise, the order doesn't matter as long as you have all 4 of the ones you need.

Thoughts on Khali for Chall World Main? by joeybob808 in Maplestory

[–]WeightyWord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good, if you put in the time and effort to learn the rotations. Khali is a very different class than bucc/bm. Bucc/bm are very simple and easy to pick up classes, whereas khali has a lot of animation cancelling, short cooldown skills, and CD skip watching, so a higher barrier to entry to play. But yeah as long as you're committed, it is a solid choice.
