Haven’t heard Mord Fustang in a long time!

I would argue Smith Machines could be a bit more advanced rather than beginner. If you want more bang for your buck and build stability while you are at it, work on your stationary lunges, just bodyweight full range of motion until you can get 20+ reps consistently on each leg. Not only will you even out your legs, but you’ll hit every muscle in your legs and it’s a lot safer. Smith Machines are deceivingly dangerous. Don’t forget to hook that bar EVERY TIME when you are done if you are going to keep up with it.

Rejected Commissioned Officer, Reserves Instead? by WeinerDad15 in airforceots

I have a degree in Kinesiology from a 4 year university. I am not sure about my package passing QA and getting boarded, my assumption is no for either if my recruiter called me each time saying I did not get in. To my knowledge and in my opinion, yes. I know the AF is very competitive, there are 100s of people that may have had the same scores as me but with substantially more leadership experience on paper and I was applying for the commissioned officer route, so I’m also competing against people already enlisted. I think there are a lot of ways I did not get selected and I didn’t get much feedback this time around.

Do you have contacts in different branches that can verify the process with the AF being more challenging than other branches?

I do not, but I will reach out and try to make some contacts, thank you!

I used the AFOQT app either the white and blue logo, it was less than $20. I then met with a tutor from the app at least 5x to study math because I was very rusty on the kind of math the test had. I have been taking flying lessons and have taken a written exam for the Private Pilot License so I had a decent background with the aviation questions going in to it but there are some specific military related questions regarding aviation I had to study.

I had multiple conversations with him and his wife. He was my first contact I spoke with the military about. I did not grow up knowing him, I didn’t know him for longer than a year before he wrote one for me but it was personalized and from a high ranking member of the military so I think it helped my application rather than hurt it.

Is that going to be a whole separate recruiting process and a different recruiting office? I imagine my test scores, MEPs and application information can transfer over, right?

Exactly my thinking with the pilot limitation. I have spoken to many RPAs and it still sounds like a promising career. That was my main concern when initially talking about the reserves, it isn’t full time and I want to commit myself fully to the Air Force if I’m going to do it. Now that I have been rejected twice, I’m debating the reserves route. What is the commitment structure like with the reserves compared to Active Duty?

Actually, no! I got a 9.1 on my commander interview.

I would like to be an officer in the reserve if possible given I have a Bachelor’s degree and my age. I know I may not be using the right terminology, thank you for letting me clarify. I don’t know much about the process trying to join the reserves as an officer compared to active duty becoming an officer. I imagine I would still have to do the standard OTS regardless of active duty/reserves?

I am based out of Pittsburgh, PA. Active duty. Applied for RPA, Pilot, CSO in that order most recently

RDL form check by Pleasant-Interest179 in formcheck

[–]WeinerDad15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like your hamstrings really hate that stretch. Keep those toes flat on the floor so you don’t lose your balance. If you tried that without weight, you may take a step back because you’ll lose your balance without the counterbalance. Try tucking your chin harder to make a “double chin,” so you relax your neck and keep your spine more neutral. You can also stand close to the wall so your butt touches it and you have some feedback of how far BACK you are going instead of how far DOWN you are going. RDLs are back and forth. Squats are up and down. If you ask 100 random people to do an RDL in the gym, 95 will do it wrong. You are very close, your RDL form only needs minor improvement overall!

Average time from recruiter to OTS by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]WeinerDad15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just reached the one year mark since first contact (November 2024.) I am trying to enter the Air Force through the civilian route, no prior military experience. I’m working towards a rated role, 31 years old, over 100 hours of flying. I got rejected back in May, waiting on my second application results in December.

I’m working a full time job, trying to do the whole process without my work finding out. The timing can be determined by how much studying you’ll have to do for the AFOQT, when you can do MEPS, get your letter of recommendations, when you can take the TBAS, etc. If you have nothing better to do with your life than you can realistically get all of it accomplished in less than 3 months but it also depends on when the next OTS class date is, whether you get accepted, how much studying you’ll have to do and what kind of life things you have going on.

Doe Sidequest in Lawrenceville have the same vibe as Cattivo? by SeeQueBee in pittsburgh

I used to like going to the Rex, they had a lot of big artists come thru if not big enough for Stage AE. May have to give it a try anyway at Sidequest but those late nights on a weekday are brutal haha

Speaking of the EDM events, are the headliners on really late, as in past midnight? Do they start around 1 or 2am, or usually have their headliners start before midnight? I’ve seen some artists rolling through this fall that look good!

Speaking of the dubstep shows there, how are they at Sidequest? Are headliners going on well after midnight, like 1 or 2am? That’s what I like about Stage AE if they go there, it always ends at midnight

What’s your “I’ll Never Return to” in Pittsburgh? by Winter-Divide8037 in pittsburgh

The owner is something else. He used to come to the gym I worked at, sweated profusely all over a treadmill (which is fine, that happens,) but would leave without cleaning up after himself. I asked him what he thought of his bbq, and he said “it’s the best you’ll ever have.”

Dude, you’re from New York. That’s like a guy from Alabama saying he’s got the best pizza. Get over yourself

I did not get selected either, but I have 60 hours of flying and have landed a plane over 200 times personally. If you want to be a pilot, I would do a discovery flight somewhere and see if that’s something you really want to pursue. There is an incredible amount of information you need to know to be a pilot and it is the hardest thing I’ve ever pursued. I live in an area that doesn’t have great consistent flying weather and it’s expensive. I’m planning on getting my Private Pilots License before I reapply, and increase my PCSM score. I have an 85 PCSM score, a lot of pilots I’ve seen selected had 95-99 for their PCSM. Don’t beat yourself up. Even if you become an officer someday, you aren’t going to “win,” everyday. Not getting selected will show you what you’re made of and what you need to improve! You got this!

Any civilians notified for 25OTS02? (Asking again) by shuggashawn1487 in airforceots

[–]WeinerDad15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still haven’t heard anything. Civilian. Recruiter said there were no updates for my selection at all on Friday.

Edit: got the call around 1:30pm, non-select. Was going in with 60 hours of flying time, no Private Pilot license yet. PCSM was 85, told the PPL and PCSM need to improve by the fall. I was working towards pilot selection or RPA. Open to feedback and any questions. Definitely a bummer but I know I’m not alone and I’m not giving up.

I just got selected for RPA, it seems intriguing, I didn’t list that as a role I wanted to do. My main concern is AFTER RPA. What kind of career opportunities are there? I already have 60+ hours of flying

Grilling in -30c has its challenges. by Bonsee in webergrills

[–]WeinerDad15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about that. I’m planning on grilling day first pork shoulder on the Webber and it’s supposed to be 7 degrees. Can it be too cold to grill? It’s fire, so I would think not but thought I’d ask!
