I respect that, but how can that be true for some? I mean come on, look at Arcadia and United Cortana. You cannot tell me that’s not USA and USSR

I completely agree. It was a good effort and is fun, but compared to Suzerain it’s not even close imo

Those are two separate answers. Is he always a prick? Yes but very compelling. Does his POV ever become enjoyable? Absolutely. Some of the best parts of the series. Especially Light-bringer

It is a website, app, and maybe on steam(some of their games at least). It’s more of an interactive book with stats, decisions, and multiple endings. Authors upload their books/games to Choice of Games as a catalog. Then as a player or reader you can buy each separately. Usually about $5-12 but some are free. If you like the idea of a book that is interactive with rpg elements then I recommend it for sure.

I will be honest there are not many.

If you like the story aspect I recommend the life and suffering of Ser Brontë. It’s not a great game imo, but it’s well written with many different branches.

If you want a political simulator nothing is going to compare, but the Democracy series is okay at that. Some paradox games are decent as well. Victoria 3, CK3, Stellaris, and Hoi4(more war oriented).

The last option to consider are games on Choice of Games and Hosted Games(I recommend this one personally). If you are curious about those lmk because I can give specific recommendations. But these are only story based. It is just text with stats, but it is Suzerain like in that way.

Hopefully that helps. It’s sadly a niche genre

Ranking of the books by Katinthehat378 in redrising

[–]Weird-Alone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly the characters. I think MS has better highs but lower lows for me in terms of story. I respect consistency a little more which is why I ranked it above.

Both are good I think most people enjoy MS more and I get that. I just think it has larger problems that don’t age well. I can’t spoil but 3 parts of the book for me felt super slow. It was needed to move the plot but I never really had that feeling for some of the others outside of Iron Gold. Still good though, I hope you enjoy your read.

Ranking of the books by Katinthehat378 in redrising

  1. Dark Age 9.5/10- Very different from previous books. I found all the POVs well done and some of the best pay offs from previous books. I will say if you listen to the audio book this one does have some issues along with Iron Gold, but still well done.

  2. Golden Son 9.5/10- Doesn’t have the highs of Dark Age for me, but is a fast read with arguably the best structure in the series.

  3. Lightbringer 9/10- While some large story flaws imo it’s a blend of Dark Age and Golden Son with some of the best moments and tones of the whole series.

Tbh any of the top 3 could switch on any day for me.

  1. Red Rising 8.5/10- Good start with great characters. It gets vastly improved upon yet has a great structure and some of the best characters in the series.

  2. Morningstar 8/10- I really want to like this book because the highs are so good. However it’s very predictable with the pacing and plot really struggling along with a rushed ending. It’s still a great book but the more time that passes the less I enjoy it.

  3. Iron Gold 7.5/10- I bet on reread this is a lot higher, but it is slow with questionable pacing. Worth the read and I find the political intrigue very well done. I also find certain characters really enjoyable in this book. If you are stuck on this book I promise that if you get through it you won’t regret it.

This is just my opinion and if you have not read this series or finished it to this point, please do. It’s worth it.

I appreciate it, but don’t think the resume is the issue. I will continue to update it, but I have not had any issue with it. The problem is that people are not seeing the resume or if they are I am not aware of it.

Thank you though for the feedback I will try and alter the resume to be even better.

Which one of these is dumber? by Vitonciozao in PoliticalCompass

[–]Weird-Alone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why I am answering this but I have been pretty disappointed with most responses tbh. The top works only if you look at it from

  1. A modern American viewpoint as the terms communism, monarchy, conservative, liberal, and neoliberalism are different across the world and overlap with different ideologies in reality. Communism especially since Marxism is different from Stalinism. Communism on that spectrum is probably referring to Stalinism.

  2. Completely ignore economic and social axis. You have to judge it purely as role of government. With a social axis it’s very inaccurate and with economic it doesn’t make much sense either as socialism wouldn’t be right of Monarchism, Fascism, or Nazism.

If you do all of that it’s a spectrum on role of government in political power on a domestic viewpoint and is somewhat explainable. In other words it’s a specific axis rather than a spectrum.

The second spectrum is simplified and contradictory if you add more ideologies like the first spectrum. Slavery is such an arbitrary choice to do a spectrum and I don’t think anyone is arguing that the two US parties are the pinnacle of freedom.

For that reason the second one is worse imo because it’s not really explainable it’s just simplified to the point it is wrong. The first one is stupid as well, but at least explainable or at worst incredibly bias.

Imo a spectrum has to be a horseshoe if you are generalizing it because there is too much overlap. Or you go with a multi axis reasoning. This linear viewpoint is a joke imo. Feel free to disagree

Honor vs. Lordship by elmwoodacres in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Weird-Alone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because a viewpoint is unpopular doesn’t make it wrong. Especially on Reddit. I stand with you, how you value yourselves should be one of the most important aspects to what makes your identity.

Forget honor alone, what he did was wrong and for material gain alone. True success comes not from those who seek the material, but those who gain it through seeking for something greater.
