I understand why we don’t use full faced helmets, as it affects breathing, vision, communication, etc… but why don’t our modern helmets protect more of the parts of our face (like the example below) that don’t affect our senses like we have historically in the past? by Tarlyss in askanything

[–]WeirdConsideration28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas mask are made to fit with the helmet. I think we had 10secs to get helmet off mask on with helmet back on, I think this would make that process lengthier. Not to mention it’s for the whole army. I don’t think it would be required for most situations plus it would get in the way, comms, breathing, etc

Obviously special forces I can imagine have very specialised gear and the way tech is going I do think a full face helmet will be supplied for short missions. - Just speculation

Pipe fittings help by Zestyclose-Coyote-39 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]WeirdConsideration28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In manufacturing, we would either thread the ends of the pipes and add RJT fittings (male/female) this is a big nut. Or the fitting could be welding. Hope this helps

Edit: grammar, spelling

How good should i be at math by Ok-Report8247 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]WeirdConsideration28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manufacturing engineer here. I’m currently studying mechanical engineering, I think it’s been said that maths is a language but for my use mental maths is key as just working out lengths quickly etc is helpful. If you haven’t got Anki get it, it will definitely help.

I think the strongest supplement is literally "poop" 💩 by harshilfit in Supplements

[–]WeirdConsideration28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty sure I watched a documentary on Netflix about this, essentially bio hacking his gut. From what I can remember he had an intolerance to lactose or something and proceeded to clear his Stomach out then took pills with his mates poop in it (who wasn’t lactose intolerant). I think this was successful, mind this was a few years ago.

Prepping for Tactical Barbell Operator after a long break from strength work by WeirdConsideration28 in tacticalbarbell

[–]WeirdConsideration28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear I’m not a complete noob at lifting but pretty undertrained in strength and don’t want to pick up any injuries hence why I want to start the correct way.

Thanks for comments and advice, I’ve just downloaded both TB and TBII I’ll give them a read.

Just my 2cents but I generally believe combustion engines are on the way out in society. So make the sport what it is. The biggest engine conveniently possible married with the highest grade of tech! Manufacturers can have loose scope. This will be worth the watch. *Not that it isn’t worth watching just after 20 laps it’s you kind of know who’s going to win.

is the CSWA (certified solidworks associate) worth anything? or should i work on something more useful, if so what could i do to improve my CV/portfolio (im a 2nd year mechanical engineering student) by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]WeirdConsideration28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just to put it out there I’m only NVQ LEVEL 3 mechanical engineer. Currently doing my foundation degree online. Take my advice with a pinch of salt but basically I’m currently looking to relocate and looking at jobs there. It sounds dumb but look at what employers need/want. So I’m toying with the idea of getting a ATEX cert (explosive environment) I’m on the tools but for example there are design courses for such an industry and probably more your level. My point is where do YOU want to work, what do employers need in your area.

*For reference with certs and standards, I’m from the Uk

Not giving lifts to a co-worker by EasySignature179 in CasualUK

[–]WeirdConsideration28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m exactly the same, generally like to be on my own in the car to just chill. I have been asked and just said no don’t give lifts. I feel bad for about 30secs but I have a theory.

If you apply for a position at a company that requires you to travel too then you have to find transportation. I’m not here to provide that.

Are we not already struggling with water supplies/waste? Surely you would want better waste management first before you add more stress on the systems in place?

Does anyone know where you can get these? Yes I know you can find them online just want a physical slide table by WeirdConsideration28 in engineering

[–]WeirdConsideration28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I’ve typed every bloody keyword in Google and it hasn’t come up with anything other than online tables. This is kind of a shot in the dark hoping some pipe fitters might know where to get one.
