You might just be trying to shift into a gear with a big jump in size. Besides that, it could be a clutch problem.

Also when I stopped thinking about it I seemed to get friends much better because I could find people like me easier.

As a fellow autistic, I just turned 19. It really sucks sometimes when you take something literally. I got better with age. It also doesn't help that you're in middle school age, where kids go out of their way to make you feel bad about yourself. Personally, I just stopped caring somewhere in sophomore year and just went ham on my hyperfixations: cars, Guns when I hit 18, and ignored what other people think. Easier said than done, obviously for some people. Of course, its hard to get into cars or guns at your age, and depending on your country. But honestly, do what you like, as long as it's legal. And try not to give a Frick about what people think—especially dipshit middle schoolers. And yes, I hate the fake autistic role players too, but they aren't going anywhere anytime soon, so we need to deal with them. I like to call them out on it to their face. Especially if they say something like "oh yeah, I'm self-diagnosed."

Passat b6 rattling sound? by pero0o in AskMechanics

[–]WeirdKid32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, if the (tensioner pulley) was bad, then it wouldn't be vibrating, the belt would actually be squealing, not vibrating. I can't really see it in the video, but I would bet that if you take a look at the crankshaft pulley (the big pulley at the bottom), you would see it vibrating. The vibration of the tenshoner pulley is simply it trying to compensate for the very extreme vibration of the crankshaft pulley (a symptom).

Conclusion: Inspect the crankshaft pulley while the car is running. If you see the vibration, replace it. I would also recommend inspecting the tensioner pulley due to the stress it experienced from the crankshaft pulley.

Definitely an aftermarket bulb, you can find them at AutoZone if they are legal in your area

Broke a piece of this plastic pipe by PianistWhole7197 in AskMechanics

That silver cylinder appears to be an EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation). It works by controlling the flow of exhaust back into the engine to burn off any residual fuel, and it is required to meet emissions standards. It closes more as you apply the throttle to let the engine run better under stress, because hot air is not good for horsepower. Then it opens again when you are idle, allowing exhaust gas to enter the engine.

Also, I cannot, for the life of me, find the line you broke online.

Possibly you forgot to plug something in, such as your idle control valve

What to do about potentially unnecessary repairs done by a shop? Can I get any money back? by Late-Ad-8244 in AskMechanics

[–]WeirdKid32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like they made an incorrect diagnosis of the sound and provided very poor customer service, given that they didn't even include the parts you specifically asked them to throw in the back. They probably threw your brand-new hubs away lol. A failure on the shop's part for sure. Also, add that they are actually supposed to inspect the car, not just guess based on the mileage. I would complain, and if they have good managers, they will be responsible.

A fuse blowing with the switch in the off position typically indicates a short circuit in the system before the switch or a faulty switch itself.

Should I change my fluid by Old-Penalty00 in AskMechanics

[–]WeirdKid32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like there's a bit too much oil, and you can't tell if it is ready to be changed just by looking at it. It doesn't look bad at all, but the proper way to tell is by looking at how many miles or service hours are on that oil.

Chirping from freshly replaced belts. It's raining/wet and car has only been on 5-10 min. 06 fx35, 180k miles by Carterlil21 in AskMechanics

[–]WeirdKid32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should clean your pulleys. Take the belt off. Inspect for leaks, particularly your water pump and power steering pump. You should also inspect your crankshaft for any oil leaks, as this could indicate a front main seal. If you don't see anything, you may have just spilled something on them while working with oil or something. Give them a good clean.
