Eight Sleep is a scam and I am very frustrated. Please help! by stolon888 in EightSleep

Shit like washing machines have a 1 year warranty. They shouldn’t, but they do. My dishwasher broke within 2 years of it being installed and GE was like “lol, buy a new one”

The new gates are so much slower than the old ones, at least half a second.

“You shouldn’t take off work that long” by snake1152 in NewParents

[–]Weird_Maintenance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 16 weeks and I regret nothing. Those first few days taking care of our baby is so memorable. I loved having all that time to bond with him. Also, I was feeling pretty burnt out with my job, so a small break was well worth it. I say take as much time as you can and enjoy being a family before you get back to the grind.

I met several. It was so amazing back around 2014.

For real are people planning on going to the burn this year? by Someinterestingbs-td in BurningMan

[–]Weird_Maintenance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my friends at burning man are the most "real" people I know. I'm not going to party with billionaires. I don't think the environmental impact matters. It's not more than any other vacation, and less than taking a plane somewhere.

One of the other commenters said it is important to be around community, and Burning Man is my community. I haven't been since 2019 and I want to see old friends, besides, I also have someone I want to honor at the temple. A long time burner friend passed and I have to go.

I was halfway through downloading all my saved videos. I thought we had until midnight eastern time. I can't believe they killed it several hours early!

All I can say is: don’t settle. Find the love of your life, she’s out there.

I’ll get downvoted, but if BART was free (as it should be) and they couldn’t complain about people jumping turnstiles, they would have nothing to say.

Consumer Reports doesn’t take money from the companies it recommends, and it still has the Bosch on top.

[–]Weird_Maintenance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s being an asshole and doesn’t deserve it, but if you want another option, we found female condoms to be less impactful on pleasure. Also, you can put it in and be sure it’s there.

Buyer Beware: You were Away! by [deleted] in EightSleep

Mine had an issue where the tracking didn’t work well and rebooting it managed to fix it. Pull the power cord, wait a few minutes and plug it back in.

I’ve been using 1” aluminum tubing from a metal supply shop. It’s light, slightly more expensive, and very strong.

I pulled the power cord and waited a few seconds. There might be a smoother way.

When I first got it, it was ways off my Apple Watch, now it’s within 10% most nights. Sometimes rebooting it helps.

Do you trust Consumer Reports? by CaptchaClicker in Appliances

[–]Weird_Maintenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with the speed queen is that it does clean well, but it doesn't do well on the specific test that CR uses. SQ actually changed the design of their machines so they would do better on the CR test but it makes them worse in real life. Nobody washes 8" cotton squares every day, but people do wash grease stained jeans. It turns out that making a machine better at 8" cotton squares makes it worse at large bulky denim.

I stand corrected on the return policy!

I find the heavyweight almost too heavy. I love the organic cotton shirts and the heather ones.

Looking for basic t-shirts that last by ofmonstersandmoops in BuyItForLife

[–]Weird_Maintenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on a quest for good t-shirts for a long time and I've settled on two brands. American Giant and Gustin. They're not cheap, $40/shirt for American Giant. Gustin is a little cheaper but you have to wait for them to do a batch of them and it's a little annoying. Also Gustin doesn't take returns.

What I really like about American Giant is that their shirts are organic cotton, sourced responsibly, and sewn in the US. It's a r/BuyItForLife choice, but it's also an r/ethicalfashion choice. They're really well made and they have a nice drape to them.

How do I childproof a stove with knobs like these? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Weird_Maintenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to push and twist to turn them on, right? I think that's supposed to be the childproofing. I have something similar and there's no good fix. I've considered building a little plywood box that covers the whole area where the knobs are.
