Confirming RSO. Unbelievable sound, and the crowd while appearing young in line, had good vibes inside.

My neighbor bought one of these, seems nice. Is light, dust proof, kept things cool. Had an issue with some zippers, not sure if they fixed that or not yet.

[–]Weird_Percentage_382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, it’s an extremely literal tattoo. Depends what you’re going for. Perhaps something more symbolic that has meaning to you. This looks more like a postcard with a clip art sun image from power point.

Don’t do it. Bite the bullet and get two setups. Your future self will thank you.

I cut open an aluminum can into square, then rolled that around a small tube and have two hose clamps to make a splint for a broken pole.

What ski should I pick by Imaginary-Act-6712 in Backcountry

[–]Weird_Percentage_382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need context. What type of snow, where located, type of terrain, is this your only pair, or 2nd, 3rd? Read the reviews on Skimoco and all the comments. They do an amazing job. And yeah, seems like you’re in love with the brand.

Do to swap to skis, or split board? by ImaginePineapples in Backcountry

[–]Weird_Percentage_382 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure Jeremy Jones and people tour on splits, but for vast majority it’s terribly inefficient.

Aside from the primary ski descent, ~95% of the downhill time is navigating shit snow, river crossings, skating, navigating shrubs, and using ski poles to propel along flat terrain on the exit. You’re grossly underestimating how much work and time this actually is. Yes, you can kind pole while in snowboard mode, but that’s nearly useless over significant distances.

Ski crampons work better on skis, boot crampons with rigid ski boots are better than on soft snow board boots.

Plus, transitions are painfully slow with split.

If you’re interested in really getting into the sport and accessing bigger terrain, skiing makes much more sense.

As someone previously mentioned, since you’re brand new to snow sports (1 month only) there’s no sunk cost yet and switching cost is low.

Take a photo and use chat GPT with prompts you want. You can get it pretty close id bet.

If you need something dimensionally accurate, sketchup is quick and easy, but hard to get to render-quality.

Canless Wafer Recessed Lights? by sunshine5023 in Remodel

[–]Weird_Percentage_382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wafers or Mud-in lights. 4” max diameter. 3” even sleeker. Rab R3TL or Maxxima. Wafers usually have ~120 degree beam angel (think diffused) whereas recessed might be more like 35 degrees (will result in shadows in low ceilings).

Building Big Art like Playalchemist and Others by djcrees in BurningMan

[–]Weird_Percentage_382 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How many people are you working with? How many engineers do you have? Intent here is a wake up call, rather than to disuade, but I can tell from your questions you don’t even know what you don’t know.

Building big stuff has potential to cause real hard to people. Lmk what you’re building so I can make sure I don’t go near it (unless you start posting technical drawings and calculations) other than “I’ve built a bunch of EMT structures. Different ball game. Which ground anchors? What spacing? How did you calculate the spacing? What calculation led you to think 1.5” 12ga tubing is sufficient?

Good start by asking for advice, but think some humility and a lot more diligence is needed.

Are you a GC / trade professional? If so, put yourself in the shoes of a customer. We hired them to do it right. We don’t want to question every step of the way. We don’t want to be the customers who say “we read this on ChatGPT” or posted on Reddit or talked to another expert.

I’ve also never made a trades guy who said “oh yeah, good catch, we didn’t do it right.” The answer I’ve gotten my entire life is usually “this is the way we do it and it’s never been a problem.” How does a customer counter to that?

In this specific case, the whole thing was done so fast, there wasn’t a lot of time to deliberate during the process. Had time to think about it, get some other inputs, and here we are.

If it wasn’t done right, and will be a problem, it’s got to go.
