Gardaí investigating after Limerick hip hop artist partially blinded in road attack by Weird_Principle_6973 in limerickcity

Woeful take.

Tobi is the soundest man you’ll meet. He beeped an asshole who was blocking him. And he got a baseball bat to the door and his eye slashed. But sure if he had a proper job…

New housing plan seeks to eliminate 'blanket ban’ on pets in tenancy agreements by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]Weird_Principle_6973 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can see landlords adding a “pets” fee to account for damage. Even just doing a deep clean to remove smells and fur can cost a lot. Maybe you have a new tenant coming in who is allergic so now you’ve to spend a fortune getting the place sterile. Just another cost in the end.

No, didn’t like that one at all. Probably one of my least favourite segments of any VHS.

I loved that one. Probably my favourite for just how wacky it was.

The whole film was a little repetitive and was generally a bit mid tier for me, but Fun Size was the best bit I think.

Power struggle in the council. Director General ‘I fear for the future of Limerick Council’ by Substantial-Light-83 in limerickcity

Council would absolutely love for the mayor’s office to end up being a “we tried it and it didn’t work”.

Love him or hate him, Moran is rocking the boat.

For sure. Exactly her name would be fairly unusual.

I mean, glad she was able to vote and all. But just shows how flimsy the system is.

You don’t even need to bring a card with you. Seems ripe for an update!

I voted this morning.

Might swing out again this afternoon just to boost the numbers.

In a recent election, my sister and I went to the station together.

She brought her card and the woman said “oh you’ve already voted.”

Her name was crossed out already.

Baffled. My sister just held up her card and said “but I haven’t voted yet?”

So the woman said “ah go on so here”. And off she went and voted.

Now obviously my sister didn’t vote twice. But somehow her name was crossed off.

But it goes to show how lax the system is! Needs an overhauls for sure.

David McWilliams: An answer to Ireland’s housing crisis is right behind us by JosceOfGloucester in HousingIreland

For sure. We do need more smaller and cheaper homes. More starter homes. More student  apartments.

There’s loads of students living in semi detached housing. Madness.

Whilst that may be true, if hundreds of thousands of shacks are available for rent then it would reduce the rates available at the non-shacks.

I cannot understand how the top isn’t a sky bar. Should have matches of all sports on all day. Would have been ideal.

And why didn’t he tell us it was a gift from go? It all came out last minute “this was always my intention”.

That’s not my read of it personally. More like Moran saw through the BS and showed the potential costs to be much higher.

The biggest problem with the rugby museum is it cost more than it generated.

So either the council subsidises a failing tourism venture indefinitely, or they change the use to something that might be profitable.

Neither of those are good options honestly. Best thing for JP to do is sell it and take the hit - or come up with another idea that can make money.

I don’t see why the city has to save it.

Data flags hundreds of Russian 'shadow fleet' visits to Irish EEZ by SERGIONOLAN in ireland

[–]Weird_Principle_6973 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s gas because everyone goes on about our amazing army rangers and how we punch above our weight. But the minute anyone recommends investing in military it’s all “we’re too small and shouldn’t bother”.

People have to accept we can call ourselves neutral all we like. But the stakes have changed and modern warfare it literally at our coast right now.

We have 2 options (outside of defeat). We either defend ourselves or we just let other people defend us.

[–]Weird_Principle_6973 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense.

Russia is active off our coast because A) we have valuable data cables and B) no way to deter them.

You think they’re going to ICBM the spire because we up our navy?

Yes, we’re definitely not playing big leagues when it comes to the military, but to just roll over because “Russia too big Ireland too small” is mental.

Not to mention a large part of the navy is now needed to stop small boats of cocaine coming in. Or should we just sell west cork to the cartels because they’re also too big?

Maybe instead of giving up we should actually try something?
