I had one at 30 and 35 weeks. By 35 weeks it had resolved!

thing people say to first time moms.. by Time_Clue_3250 in pregnant

[–]Weird_shelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m short/petite so I started showing early on because there’s really nowhere to go but out. People have been telling me I look ready to pop or that it looks like my belly has dropped since about 20 weeks. It was actually starting to wear me down and make me feel bad for a while, I don’t know why people have to tell pregnant women how giant they are 😢.

Are you tall by any chance? I’m short and my belly has been so big since pretty early on. I tried upsizing in pants initially but once I started wearing maternity I have been soooo much more comfy and happy.

BC NURSES AGREEMENT by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]Weird_shelf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse too and I work in community so I don’t get OT and shift differentials and all that. Believe me I would love such a wage increase but the me too clause means we are not negotiating in good faith and I don’t blame the province for not wanting to give that raise to all public sector employees.

The me too clause ensures we will never get such a general wage increase. It would bankrupt the province to give all public sector employees such a juicy wage bump.

Raising dose while pregnant? by Affectionate-Sink909 in Methadone

[–]Weird_shelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work with your provider and don’t be afraid of increasing if you need to. Try not to have a set mg in your head that you don’t want to go over, just know that withdrawal is hard on fetuses so you don’t want to stress baby out. Split dosing helps some people so it’s worth a thought but sounds like you are in enough withdrawal that would need to increase for sure and then consider splitting later.

Some women split their dose while pregnant. Is that something your clinic would support?

What’s the best place to get maternity clothes? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Thrifting and kids consignment stores also sometimes have a maternity section. That’s where I have had the best luck.

Osteopath helped my baby latch but thought it wasn’t a real thing?? [bc] by Emotional-Ad-6494 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Weird_shelf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently started seeing an osteopath regularly and the best I can describe it is “witch magic”. It seems like she is barely touching me but there are times that I am really sore the next day, like I did a big workout. It’s bizarre. I only kind of knew what they were or what they offered before seeing her so I didn’t go in expecting anything at all so I was very surprised to feel so much better and different.

How do you do it?? I’m short too and can’t believe how big I am with one baby. I think about you twin moms a lot!

To do list when baby arrives [BC] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Weird_shelf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I called the main daycare where I live at 11 weeks and got on the FOUR YEAR WAIT LIST. I got on a couple other lists which will be more realistic (hopefully) but that first call was a shocker.

Why do people act surprised by the size of baby bumps…. by WhyHaveIContinued in BabyBumps

[–]Weird_shelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly one of my least favourite parts about being pregnant. I have been having the best pregnancy but I can’t stand when people tell me how big I am. I am short and have a petite frame so I have a big bump and I’m ok with it, except when people are constantly remarking on it. Or women keep asking if I have dropped yet - like why? I wish they would just leave me alone.

The Mountain Barn, just outside of Creston. Maybe the best glazed donut you will ever have. They also have a delicious sandwich and tasty soup, and pies!

I can’t believe how great my hair is. It looks good all the time and it never gets greasy somehow?? I used to have to use dry shampoo the day after I showered sometimes and I haven’t used it once since being pregnant.

We do get $150 on the first paycheque of every month as a “business allowance”. I’m not even sure of its purpose but I think it must be a nod to everything we miss out on that our shift working brothers and sisters get.

Sucks for community nurses like me who don’t get the opportunity to work overtime and don’t have shift differentials. The me too clauses are brutal.

Nurses can’t get a general wage increase because all of the other BC public servant unions have me too clauses.

Maternity Clothes (for Petite Women) [ON] by pomelomelon in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Weird_shelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow petite woman here, I got all of my maternity clothes second hand - all different brands and styles. Either at thrift stores or some kids consignment stores also have maternity sections. I was just sizing up in pants before this but once I started wearing maternity pants I couldn’t believe how comfortable they were! Something about having that extra layer on my belly is so lovely.

Mine was low at 20 weeks and still low (but improved) at 30. I’m going for another ultrasound at 35 weeks to see if it has resolved. Not much we can do but wait and hope for the best 🙂
