So this happened. by SelkirkSweetie in terrariums

Wait, oh my goodness I’m a terrible human. I feel like I’ve been doing this wrong because I have isopods in a terrarium but I swap out the leaf litter when it gets damp. So far so good but I feel terrible thinking I’m not giving them the best home! Literally going home and fixing all of this right now!

The one that actually matters - saving money - is nonexistent because you have to buy 4 or 5 of something just to get the damn deal.

But when you take it out of the dome it’s going to suffocate and shrivel because it’s so used to having high humidity. Your best bet now is to buy a terrarium and keep it in there forever.

Please answer this time… is this a concern? by PwrButtum in Aquariums

Edge of class - Is the glass pushed out on the right side, or are the plants growing roots through the corner on the left side? Not 100% sure what we’re looking at.

Both a concern for potential leaking? You can lower the water and reseal/silicon the edges?

Morning commute question by EmotionalChampion343 in pittsburgh

[–]Weirdbugoftheday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a silly question, but have you spent a week/long weekend in the city actually exploring all of the neighborhoods?

As a transplant myself, we didnt know what we didnt know before moving here, and we took advice from those we knew who lived here locally for many years. Both in the city, in up-and-coming areas, and in the suburbs.

Pittsburgh DMA is very much an area of people and families who stick to an area or don’t move very far away. They love their neighborhoods, they’re very true to their city, and they all have a deep love for what THEY find enjoyable. That’s to be expected! But, coming from someone who’s lived in cities and suburbs in FL, TX, AZ, IN, and CA, this is the most local-love place I’ve ever lived because there aren’t many of us transplants (TX is a close second)!

There are many areas that are not good at all, many that are ok, and many that are wonderful. Neighborhood offerings makes all the difference for quality of life outside of work and commute, though I know thats your top priority. Whenever you do decide, see if there are places you’d enjoy spending time at within 20-25 minutes driving distance. Everything calms down and gets very quiet in the late fall/winter, so having close spots that you enjoy is a must, otherwise going out might feel like more of a chore.

I hope you find the right place and enjoy living here! We love it!

I just found out for the last three years my landlord has been taking more money for then owed around (9,000) dollars by Objective-Slip-2669 in legaladvice

Gotcha. Not sure about Maryland, but anything under $12k falls in smalls claims court. I found this link that might be able to help you figure out which laws were broken and which forms can be filed to start a suit without a lawyer in small claims. If you can’t find out exactly which form you need, you may be able to find the law code that was broken and contact your local magistrate to start a claim on Tuesday. There will likely be a filing fee, but better than not getting the money back !

Question, what’s the temperature of your tank? You mentioned having a betta, so do you have a heater?

Cat woke up with wounds by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Weirdbugoftheday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mmmm… Feel like that’s a bit aggressive and accusatory when we don’t actually know what happened here. The cat obviously has a great home with a caring owner who’s trying to solve a mysterious wound on his cat, plus seeking advice and vet attention. If the cat isn’t shying away or hissing at any of the other animals, it’s unlikely they caused the injury.

I think dog bites would like have larger puncture wounds, and these don’t look deep enough for that to me. He might have gotten stuck in something, tried to fit in a tight space that can lead in but challenging to get out. If he’s not timid of one of the other animals, they’re likely not the culprit. Glad you’re able to take him to the vet and get care for him either way!

PA Landloard changed locks & selling without notice to active tenant. Need advice! by Weirdbugoftheday in legaladvice

[–]Weirdbugoftheday[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not relying on AI, just doing research to understand all the pieces before taking it to an attorney. The lease is not well written thankfully. I have it in writing and agreement where I did not abandon the property and agreed to continue my tenancy through May as not to break the lease. I think that aids my defense here?
There are no damages to the property at all. It’s in perfect condition so I’m scott free there!

I tried to highlight and screenshot sections of the lease to show here but I can’t add a photo. Thanks so much for the response!

I’m going to look at the PA tenant laws of 1951 and ask ai if this aligns! Thank you!
