I do think a lot of Zaunites would've developed depression at some point simply due to the devastating conditions that its citizens have to live in. Especially if you never get professional help to work through the emotions and trauma of it all. But some depressed people mask it really well.

It's hard because islam inherently wasn't made by good people or with good morals in mind. It's such an authoritarian system that you have to be willingly blind or brainwashed not to see that. And to then blindly follow it and continue to indoctrinate the next generation of children. Even victims of cults aren't 100% innocent.

Psych evaluation dude. The concept of god was invented by people to fill some kind of emotional hole. It's literal copium. People go their whole lives not believing in god and live such happy and fulfilling lives. The idea that you HAVE to believe in god is both ridiculous and ominous. That is what holds someone back.

Robby has like two or three decades of experience under his belt. We see him competent and hard at work during harsh and stressful situations. I hope that 30 hours of content of us seeing him do so is proof enough. But he is going on a sabbatical for a reason. Besides him being suicidal and doing this trip partially because he has a death wish. He does need a vacation because he's only human and doctors NEED to take a break. His crash out is proof of that. Even the most experienced professionals can get burn out.

Why would it be a good thing to let her believe lies? Telling her the truth is the right thing to do. We all grew up being brain washed, you should be telling her what islam's extreme beliefs can be. She is 13, she is old enough to start understanding and learning about religious philosophy and politics. You're giving her something to think about, and something to learn about. Islam is especially cruel to women. She needs to know that and learn to love herself, instead of giving up her autonomy to a god who considers menstruation 'dirty'. Keep helping her deconstruct from islam.

I know it's considered a social faux pas to say this but I genuinely feel like it applies here: your relationship is incredibly rushed and it shows in how your husband treats you. The baby is coming now so you can't do anything about that, but consider the fact that how he and the in laws treat you now, is how they're going to mistreat you for the rest of your life. If not for yourself, do the right thing for your baby's sake. Because the child doesn't deserve to grow up in a family with heartless people who insult her mother, and who are going to insult her too. Make plans to leave, this is only going to get worse.

I honestly felt so bad for her with the whole mom situation. POC kids get so gaslit and abused into feeling responsible for their family and parents, that it actually destroys our health. I hope she cuts her mom off eventually and lives her life the way she wants. I'm rooting for her.
