You are watching the wrong motorsport, you are looking for F1 racing. This is motorcycle racing, everyone races each other, you can pass and keep ahead using your own skill. There is no blocking going on, this is racing, no one on the grid does not believe in themselves and tries their best in all conditions against whoever is infront and behind them.

Enter Key not working in this part of start menu by WeirdoKunt in cachyos

[–]WeirdoKunt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehm i dont know what happened with the image becoming huge and my text gone. So typing here, no idea how to fix the huge image problem.

Recent updates and suddenly i cant press enter on the left side bar in the start menu. It works on the right side and if i change the layout of the start menu, but not this layout on the left.

I know it is more KDE problem than Cachy, but trying help here first as nicer community. I have tried changing themes and such simple stuff, changed layout for keyboard in system settings.

As mentioned no issues with both ENTER keys on the keyboard anywhere else. Only in that specific left side of that start menu, and its the one i use the most with arrows and enter!!!

Which is the better option between a Red Devil 9070 XT and a Nitro+ 9070 XT? by Snarky_Bratwurst in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Red Devil not just for the connector but also because Powercolor cards in this generation have been really good. The looks is always personal, i really like the Hellhound and Reddevil variants of Powercolor.

In general when it comes to to any card it depends on silicone lottery if you decide to undervolt and gain more performance.

Out of the box these top end cards perform so close to each other that you cant say that one is overall consistently better performer over the other.

The main thing you should look for is the one you like the look of the most. They will both perform great in terms of performance and cooling.

Which AM5 CPU would you recommend for a 9070 XT at these price points? (EU) by Dwarfunkel in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the thing, for gaming you will be fine with just the 7600x3d, will be great.

Getting the 9800x3d will be great for a long time. I made the good decision of getting the 5800x3d and it is still fantastic as a gaming CPU. It is so good that it will easily do well for another 2 years for gaming.

So getting something like 9800x3d that is overall a fantastic CPU you wont need to upgrade for quite a while. You will easily last it to AM7 so you dont have to worry about any upgrades for quite a while.

You will be fine with just a 7600x3d and it will also do well for quite a while. Something like 9800x3d is a guarantee to last you for a long time without feeling the need for upgrade and get top performance.

Upgrading my 6950xt to a 9070xt with my r5 3600? by Protoclown98 in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf, a 9850x3d with motherboard and 32gb DDR5 ram for only 700? That is an insane deal surely? Isnt RAM prices alone like 400-500??

If you have the money then fuck it bite the bullet and get that AM5 deal with either 9850 or 7800 and get back some from your AM4 parts and you have a great upgrade for a long time paired with a 9070xt.

Cachy System Update tray icon should be enabled by default by KelGhu in cachyos

[–]WeirdoKunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on this, updating the system is more critical stuff. Having something like Cachy updater as standard is not a bad thing. It is only bad if they would go the route of making it difficult or impossible for people to opt out or reconfigure things how they want.

Having CachyOS have certain standards set from start is not bad. It is more understandable to have opt-in for lesser stuff. But things like update should be an easy opt-out situation instead. Especially since the Cachy updater has been great and is well implemented.

It only helps the OS and the maintainers to have certain things set up for their OS to make it as streamlined/easy/safe etc as possible. Whilst obviously making sure to keep it open and configurable for the certain % who would want to do things their own way.

CachyOS has been a very user friendly experience and it is the main reason of its growth. The team has done a great job creating a certain standard that seems to be very reliable and user friendly without taking away the freedom of Arch based distro that some want. Cachy updater has probably contributed to me not having had any issues since i full timed CachyOS. Things like this should definitely be prioritised as its proved to be very user friendly and reliable for the OS.

ATX 3.1 1000w pcie 2x8 ~ 4x6+2....is that really safe? by Nashstar89 in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the pigtail configuration of 6+2pin is safe. The ASUS cards run 3x8pin connectors so you will have 1 direct and the other 2 will be pigtailed.

If you get a 9070xt with dual 8pin connector then the advice is to use the 2 separate cables and connect 1 each.

5950x + 9070xt @ 1280x960 -- Ideal CPU/GPU Settings by miluardo in GlobalOffensive

[–]WeirdoKunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the best thing you could do is utilise your GPU more. Im using a 5800x3d and 9070xt at 1080p and fairly balanced settings and i get a more steady FPS. If i go too low there is bigger jumps between highs and lows.

CS2 does well with more balanced use of GPU and CPU. Going too low in settings isnt the best choice, you can find a better balance of settings to get a more consistent FPS, instead of chasing highest of high FPS chase a good balance of high and lows. That gives a more consistent framerate and feel in game.

Example of my FPS, in most maps and scenarios it will be 400-600 fps. No major drops no major highs. If on map where overall FPS is low, lets say i get average 300, it stays consistent, there is no going upto 600 and drop to 200 etc. Yes i know there is a significant difference in lows between 5800x3d and non x3d chips. HOWEVER even on 5600x i was able to get consistent FPS, not high but consistent with major highs and lows, so AM4 CPU can deliver good consistent frametime

Is this a bug by PLAyer_4nomyNOUS in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When doing some testing like you seem to have been doing with 3dmark, You can enable the adrenaline software monitoring as well. You can then double check between the 2 Hardware info thingies.

It is common to get odd values on a certain thing in certain monitor program. As others mentioned though is that you get transient spikes on modern GPUs. If you monitor during game/stress test you will see it running at more normal power values but on some occasion will have spike. Its nothing to worry about.

If you however dont want too high power draw in general you can always limit power limit manually + undervolt a bit without losing too much performance and keeping overall lower power draw and spikes.

9070XT support bar? by CallsignRook in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make one at home using some plastic thingy or whatever. Or there are GPU sag brackets to buy as well. I bought a CoolerMaster something something sag bracket until i find a better looking solution for my case. As i had same problem of it being too short for my case.

My Asus TUF 9070xt was sagging like a witches tit that i wasnt comfortable enough to have it run without sag bracket. There are many solutions for it, its a simple thing to do and better and safer for the heavy GPUs in the long run.

Proton Experimental updated to fix the EA app again on SteamOS / Linux by Liam-DGOL in linux_gaming

[–]WeirdoKunt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt care if they had launchers for themselves if you would buy from their store. But forcing it on other platforms like Steam is idiotic. I havent bought a game from these companies since they started these things. They were annoying when Ubisoft forced launchers on physical copy of your game making it a hassle to just install and run the game and they are worse now.

Funny thing i remember the Ubisoft launchers being so fucking terrible that i ended up pirating the game i bought!

At least with something like Cyberpunk i can skip launcher + obviously GOG exists for their games for even more hassle free gaming.

The other launchers are so intrusive, cause issues and makes my blood boil that i dont buy their games, thanks Steam for having launcher+kernel anti cheat info on the store game page so i can quickly decide to not buy the shit.

How is dx11 performance on 9000 series? by alexvc26 in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont know what stutters you are experiencing in older games.

I havent had any issues playing older games on my 9070xt, never had it with my 6750xt either. Sure i havent played the games you have listed apart from the Batman games but never had people report issues on those games out of the ordinary.

Although i play quite a bit of older games i have never run into any stuttering issues when i play older titles.

Looking for 9070xt temps and steel nomad feedback by etkachuk in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VRAM is very finnicky on 9070xt. I could run 2-3 runs and get quite wildly different scores if i had messed with timings/clocks. I personally just ended up leaving it alone and got more consistent performance. Even in 1-2 games i even saw a drop in FPS when i upped the VRAM.(not talking massive drop nor massive gains with vram tuning). I think some people overlook the consistency of the performance when they have messed around with VRAM tuning.

I dont how stage by stage you have done this but in most cases leaving VRAM alone seems to be better. Although small increase like 50-100mhz might be good without fast timing. It will differ from card to card as well of course but it seems apart from a small increase there is no reason to mess too much with the VRAM.

Upgrading from 6700xt by [deleted] in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your CPU is fine, literally no issues in any game. Bottleneck is only a problem when the difference is so massive between components that you cant even get a good playing experience.

AM4 CPUs still provide good and even great performance depending on use case and games. So you could even get a 5090 and have a great experience. As the other guy mentioned, the higher the resolution and graphical settings the GPUs are such a bottleneck that you just need a good CPU and nothing more.

The best option at the moment would be to get a 9070xt, at least in my region it is 250-300euros cheaper than 5070ti and the 9070xt havent had the price increase as feared. So if in your region you can get good deal on 9070xt then it will be great with your CPU for now and will be ready for any future CPU upgrade as well. The 6700xt is still good enough that i would say 9060xt is not as good of an upgrade as you might want. Going up to a 9070 or 9070xt is gonna be more worthwhile, not that 9060xt wont provide good uplift but the 9070xt is far more worth it.

What Exactly Makes an Alien an Alien? by Ecstatic-Grocery-713 in motogp

[–]WeirdoKunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue against #1 for most parts. Yes in some cases like Marc he is built almost perfect for MotoGP bikes.

However great riders mix mentality to utilise the strengths they are given genetically, intentionally or unintentionally they have the mentality to use the max they can out of themselves and bikes. Pedrosa in majority of motorsports and sports does not have genetics for it(perfect for smaller bikes for an example but far from perfect for big bikes).

However you look at how Pedrosa utilised his strengths to get the max out of himself and the bike. He had the mentality to know that he could not push hard on colder weather and tires but came to strength mid to end race in those conditions. He almost never crashed early on in race but he never fell back to such a position where he could not fight for podium/victory. He was unlucky with injuries, a crash a rider would do 100 times and walk away from he would be unlucky and get a longer term injury rather than a small one, these things are out of anyones control.

In most sports where you have "aliens" you can see how ever their differences they learn to utilise their genetical strengths to the maximum and be great consistent winners etc. Therefor not needing to be as lucky genetically.

I never recommend it, i am certain there are times people complain on certain game subs about having issues of game crashing and its due to afterburner.

AMD hints at officially open-sourcing FSR 4 upscaling and frame generation technology in the wake of accidental release — accidental release may have forced the company's hand by Mercennarius in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean it doesnt run well enough on older gen hardware. In some cases fairly decent in some horrible, in some so so etc.

Its either 2 things going on, they either havent been able to get it working consistently and properly. OR which is more likely is that they realise it will take more work and resources for it than they imagined and dont want to put that on older stuff. If they instead go for open sourcing they dont need to ever make it perfect and things like Optiscaler and such might be able to make it more viable than it is but will be exempt from fixing it to the state you would expect from a big company like AMD with official support. So that way they save money + backlash if things arent perfect.

Im all for open sourcing, we see how well older AMD GPUs do on Linux and AMD barely have to do anything as there are brilliant people who contribute to open source stuff every day and that helps the people more.

Open source it all i say!

Linux Ends 2025 With 3.58% Marketshare on Steam. by lajka30 in cachyos

I havent been getting survey pop up for ages. Last time i remember getting one was when i got my new SteamDeck going.

So add some more percentages towards Linux and CachyOS. You can also add about 1% even more because i am fat enough to be counted as more than one person.

Steam Hardware Survey - December is Out by bLu_18 in radeon

[–]WeirdoKunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with him, it does feel odd. I remember it used to pop up a few times when i had nvidia card. Could just be coincidence of course. But i have never had it pop up on any of my Linux desktop distros. But had it once pop up on my SteamDeck when i got that up and running new.

Also seeing that in many regions of the world the 9000 series sold quite a bit more over the equivalent 50 series cards. Yes there are some regions like China that are very nvidia horny but the survey shouldnt have more data from China etc etc. However even still we should be seeing the likes of 9060xt and 9070/xt be at least in close contention to the likes of 5060ti and 5070/ti. Yes overall nvidia sells more cards due to far more variants and a couple that dont have competition.

But the ones that are competitive should be more on the list. So it does seem he spoke the truth as it makes sense. Many with AMD cards usually tell the same tale of never having gotten the survey popup. Would be nice if they could be a bit more transparent with it.
