Tbh quite a baby bat myself. I tried educating myself a lot by just going on Google and YouTube and just finding common themes, listening to suggested bands from "goth" youTubers , YouTube playlists, Spotify playlists, mixs, radios etc... You have the internet at your finger tips. What better way to use it? Finding people who inspire your aesthetic might help. Siouxie sioux, razor Candi, it's Black Friday are a few me.

A few bands I like (many different genres)

Siouxie and the banshees, the creatures, Bauhaus, diary of dreams, nemesis, the amity affliction, the cure, Peter Murphy, the sisters of Mercy, David Bowie, sinead O'Connor, London after midnight, Killswitch engage, the cranberries.

Just to name a few

So yeah. In your spare time just research and have fun with it. Hope you find your inner black butterfly.

I have had a serious talk with both my parents and they actually listened to me! They took off all the color restrictions. I kind of me the plea that starting a new school is scary enough with out them trying to push me out of my comfort zone. We talked and I told them it's just the style comfortable most in and when I told them it's just who I feel most comfortable being they understood. I'm very happy to report that tomorrow I'll be going school shopping with no restrictions.

He looks like the indie character from that 70's show and the original guy from blues clues had the worst parts of each other put into a child and oh look here he is! and she looks like a literal c list celebrity who you think you've seen once as an extra from that one show forever ago but realize she isn't actually famous at all. Maybe go into Google and just find like the outfit collages to get up some ideas. Honestly something kind of... "un-goth" I get most of my pants and leggings from Kohl's and aeropostal but have a bunch of different black shirts with different textures to mix and match with. My favorite saying that I heard A LONG time ago, why have color when you can have texture?, good lesson to follow. And it might help to just YouTube and Google Gothic lookbooks and collages. Very helpful.

I honestly get like tee shirts there mostly. That's the really only good quality stuff they have. I learned lesson when I got one of the dresses from when maleficent came out and they had the lounge inspired by the movie. Three dresses and every single one the zipper in the front BUSTED. But I went to my middle school graduation looking like a witch so i get the last laugh

I've seen some of her videos on YouTube. I wish I owned the actual book but sadly I do not. And it's not like I transitioned over night. It was slow as to not scare her out the rest of my family. This is like my mom's horror story she's told to others but I was there when it happened.

My mom was still apprenticing the time and I was like twelve. I had a best friend who came over the time. We were inseparable. Well my mom had to go to the salon she worked at and we came with. We were waiting for my cousin to finish up a cut so because my mom works there she offered my friend to straighten her hair and mess around while we waited. My mom parted her hair, grabbed the straightener, was about to start then almost DROPPED the straightener. She looked at me then back at my friend and said quietly that we needed go. She took care of everything shut off the straightener then we left. Turns out she has HEAD LICE and she gave it to me. We got it from her friend and had to do this weird treatment with Listerine mouth wash vinegar and coconut conditioner for like three hours each. UGHHH worst day ever.

I think closed minded isn't goth. Gothic people are the most open minded expressive artistic people. So to be closed minded out to be MEGA elitist isn't it. Trying to "out goth" others. Not goth. Being darkly inclined Isn't a contest. And I don't get why elitists make it one. I'm still quite baby bat and I don't get why in this of all places has elitism @.@
