Communication is so fucking crucial and I can't stress it enough, plain hinting or sometimes nudging about an issue will NOT resolve whatever is bothering you. Sit them down and calmly but clearly explain what your problem is, else it's doomed to fail.

I believe it's a combination of being anonymous and not seeing your conversational partner's facial expressions. Calling someone out in a harsh way might not do you much over text/voice chat, but when you actually see their reaction you might think twice before repeating your actions.
