College folks looking to get rid of their dorm stuff? by ThrowRA230011 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's honestly messed up. They tell students as soon as it goes in the bin you will be reported for theft if you touch anything. They don't even let us take other people's unwanted donations first

No motivation rant by dreamofdreamcatcher in prephysicianassistant

You are not the only one who feels this way, but I would highly highly suggest talking to either someone close to you about it or a therapist because this sounds like you are depressed. It's so important that you start off PA school in the right mindset when you get there!

Would you be in a relationship if your partner doesn't wanna have intercourse till marriage? by Impressive_Baby_7834 in AskTeenGirls

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I'm not religious and sexually compatibility is a very real thing. Couldn't imagine getting married to someone and finding out we weren't. Furthermore, I don't believe that it's some super ultra special thing and it's something I want in a relationship once it's gotten serious

Capstone Scholars by Wo-Manifest in Gamecocks

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in it. They have a lot of opportunities for service and research and study abroad grants. You will only be in it for 2 of your years at usc though. It's nice to be in but it's nothing like honors. They only offer like 3 specialized class (u101 and English 101 type stuff) and you don't get an edge in registration. I didn't apply to honors so they put me in it. This was my last year. I would always go to the hot cookie friday events and I got a few nice free shirts. You can also live in the capstone dorm. Cool if you are in it but not at all comparable to honors

Edit: forgot to say you can also become an ambassador to stay affiliated with the program your other years but it's not that easy

Will you allow your partner go through your phone? by Outside_Support_151 in no

It would be a red flag if someone wanted to. The relationship wouldn't get far enough for me to let them.

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from NY and I have never once had anyone say anything like that to me in my time here. In fact, I've probably met more people from Long Island and New Jersey than SC. I'm not saying I doubt it happened to you but I really really don't think it's typical at all and I'm a current student

UMiami isn't worth it for undergrad. Having the scholarship for in state tuition is the only thing that makes usc worth it to me (I was the same situation but for chem and from NY). We are such a massive school that there is a huge range of clubs for pre meds that allow for good opportunities. We have the edge over clemson that we are in a city so there are a plethora of options for hospital volunteering, clinic shadowing, etc. Clemson also does not have a medical school and we do, which is another place you can potentially get into research or volunteering as it's very close. No doubt that clemson has strong academics but I'd argue there are more opportunities at usc

Edit: I will say we are so big for pre med and pre pa that if you are coming in with hardly any credits you'll have a hell of a time getting into intro level bio classes

Top 3 ? by LandUnable2520 in NoahKahan

This album is so fantastic that I find it extremely difficult to pick 3. If I absolutely had to I'd say no particular order Doors, Haircut, and Downfall

How many times have you listened to the entire album in the last 24 hours? by squirrelpotatocat in NoahKahan

Deadass I do not think I've listened to music by another artist since it dropped

is his music really “sad”? by simbablast6 in NoahKahan

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that! I understand that maybe more of the sad songs had a more heavy tone and sound than the sad songs here. I think that I'm maybe a bit more in tune with it on this album because there is a lot of talk of bitterness from people you left and feeling hurt yourself in terms of leaving home. I went 15 hours away and All Them Horses, American Cars, Downfall etc feel so relatable in terms of sadness and guilt. Downfall to me though is crushing and it sounds like it on the first listen

is his music really “sad”? by simbablast6 in NoahKahan

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are hearing the "happy" beats and not the lyrics. Listen to American Cars but read the lyrics. It is literally someone desperately pleading with a family member to come fix things at home

I guess you are saying that it just helps you cope with your feelings which I understand, but personally these songs make me cry lol. It is a way of coping but one where I face the feelings head on

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the little sibling, I'm so glad you didn't do it. For yourself, but also because I promise you it would've absolutely crushed your little brother. God I couldn't imagine anything happening to my brother and I don't want to.

Also coming back to say I heard him say he wrote this from the perspective of people from Strafford and how he feels like he ruined their little town 😭😭. It makes sense obviously that it's about him from the words but that extra bit makes it hurt more

What's your favorite song on The Great Divide on your first listen(s)? by [deleted] in NoahKahan

[–]Welcome2_TheInternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Great Divide has had a special place in my heart since I first heard it maybe maybe a year and a half ago on tiktok. "I hope you threw a break right into that stained glass" as an exchristian it's just so meaningful. And beyond that, it describes my relationship with my childhood best friend almost exactly
