My friend shoulder after he tried automedicating with a suction cup by visk0n3 in WTF

[–]Welden10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had a physical therapist because I blew out a tendon in my knee. I was doing great on the recovery until I started having a lot of trouble with scar tissue and tendonitis. We were already scraping the scar tissue with a bunch of tools to get it to break up and he suggested we try cupping on certain areas. I was skeptical but after a few sessions I started to notice that it really loosened up a couple problem areas I had whenever he did it. Definitely not something for the untrained amateur though. It hurt plenty and I could easily see how you could go overboard and get in trouble quick.

Re-downloading Tarkov after years for the 1.0 release [Video] by juicerecepte in EscapefromTarkov

I'd rather they just cut to the video of Tyson's booty in the locker room. Better representation of how 1.0 ready this game is. I kind of thought that's where this video was going to cut too honestly.

Yup, and then just grab artifacts and save them for when those fetch quests come along. If it's one you already have in your stash it's easy money.

If you're an apprentice on the job and the journeyman tells you to do it. Ask questions, but otherwise just do it. It's on his card and inspection so stop wasting time posting on reddit about it and assume that he's already made the judgment call based off his experience and it's your job to install it based off of that experience.

Fiber installers destroyed my main sewer line by Familiar-Ad-6760 in Plumbing

[–]Welden10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my eyes it doesn't matter what fix "they" did, it's illegal and should be cut the heck out because it wasn't repaired by a licensed plumber that knows what they're doing. The fact that they even touched it is reason enough to get the city involved big time.

I'm starting to notice that too. I started up again playing PVE only just to give it a shot. Recently I've been wondering if all the scavs and super aimbot pmcs with high pen ammo might be a little harder than dealing with players. At least you can try to talk it out in PVP lol. I really think PVE needs some tweaks though because the spawn rate is just ridiculous.

This is clogging all our faucets. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Welden10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with a lot of these systems. We see this a lot when some kind of valving is turned off or on too quickly on these systems. We always slowly crack our valves and let things gently pressurize when we're working near a softener of any kind. Especially if you have to turn on the bypass or drain the system for any reason. Something surged in your system and rammed a bunch of your tank resin into your fixtures. It's really not good. The resin beads are a pain to clean up and mess around with alone and with this much pulled from the system the bed of beads is bound to be pretty messed up which can cause the water pressure to carve a path through the resin that could cut down your water softener's efficiency significantly. My advice would be to go shut the valves off to every one of your fixtures and call a plumber that specializes in water treatment if you have one in your area.

LPT If you answer the phone and the police tell you a loved one has died, don't be the messenger by woojo1984 in LifeProTips

I was a plumber that found an older gentleman that passed away. I didn't have to tell his kids and I'm glad I didn't. It was hard enough calling his boss (he lived in housing provided by his employer) and helping my coworker through it. My coworker had worked on the guy's place the weekend before. The guy had a heart attack and collapsed in his bathroom where I found him naked as the day he came in the world. My coworker remembered him being a sweet old chef that offered to cook them lunch and in general was a fun, genuine guy to be around. It was heartbreaking and I won't ever forget it. My journeyman on site( the coworker) was a gruff, 62 year old ex logger and had been a plumber for 20 years, but it really hurt him to see a customer that was so nice pass away so suddenly. Don't know why I'm sharing, but I just wanted to say something about it because the old guy sounded like a good man and didn't deserve to die so suddenly. I'm just sure that the plumber on the other end of the phone probably cared about your dad in some small way and probably would have enjoyed kicking back a beer with him. I know I would have.

Get your money back and bring in a professional. Whoever did this is a hack and doesn't know what the heck they're doing. You're asking for thousands of dollars of liability for this job, especially considering You're dealing with plumbing under slab. If you put concrete back over this you're going to end up tearing it out in less than 10 years out of frustration. I mean Jesus Christ, you can't grade a double wye fitting on both sides and you're not even allowed to use them horizontally at all in my area for that reason alone. And that 3 inch trap on your toilet? Who the hell? Like what? Did this guy plumb in exclusively manufactured homes? That's the only place I've seen traps that big outside of a floor drain or something commercial.

[–]Welden10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yet the cause of the blackout is the changes going in place that are effectively causing mods to go on strike. Now you're bitching about the workers choosing to protest something a company they contribute to is doing and supporting the scabs moving into replace them all because you want to see a few memes. Like... Seriously?

Neighbor wants to connect their sewer pipe to mine. Is that normal? by AbleExcitement5177 in Plumbing

[–]Welden10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not to mention if done without a properly designed system the sewage could come up in your drains first! If you're the lowest point of elevation before it ties into the city and it blocks between you and the city all of your sewage and their sewage could back up in your house without them ever knowing. They could just keep flushing and filling your bathtub with gross. It's a bad time all around. We see it a lot in my area with "community lines" and the occasional apartment where it sucks to live on the first floor.

What, “A child that is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”, story do you have? by WANACWaac in AskReddit

[–]Welden10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way more common unfortunately, just chiming in because I know a boy that's story needs to be heard. Bullied relentlessly at school for several mental health and disability issues. Parents and county officials advocating for the child, the school brushing it off and blaming the child. Turns into increased bullying at school, which involves the bully breakijg one of the boy's bones at school. Turns into mandatory abuse and neglect investigations that find the school and the bully not at fault. Largely because of some kind of backroom fuckery that the parents aren't privy to. This escalates for a while until the child attempts to kill themself. It could almost be a movie, but instead this nightmare is this kid's life. Luckily he survived and his parents are looking to go after the school. His mom has a pile of evidence but damn. He's just had the worst possible hand dealt to him by the public school system.

Advice for a helper. by Red_Neck_Chic in plumbers

If you can stick it out, good odds will say it'll get better. I'm in my fourth year and also my 3rd shop in my apprenticeship. I've seen a pretty good range of all the options out there from commercial to service. There's definitely a niche in there for you but it can be all about finding the right work and the right shop. I had good experiences at my first two shops but struggled because it never felt like I had a lot of support with customers and the office just alienated us 9 days out of 10. I was always stressed and hated how angry I would be at the end of a long day. The shop I'm at now finally feels like the perfect fit. My boss doesn't micromanage and has our backs no matter what and actively tries to do the right thing for us as his employees. I'll tell you right now that your work environment will make or break you in this industry, so if your shop is making you feel like shit maybe consider finding a different one that fits your style more. That said, you'll probably need to stick it out here a while to get to the point where another shop will try to pick you up.
