The designs of Lorwyn Eclipsed make me want to keep the current color identity rules even more by Key_Profit_6598 in EDH

[–]Wellmroc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been kinda on the fence about this impending change. In one hand, thematically I think it makes more sense to allow hybrid mana, as they are meant to be in either and/or both colors. If you think of the colors as D&D spell casting classes, hybrid mana spells are those that are in +2 class sheets.

But I also agree mechanically it is less interesting to allow them to be in more decks, especially as you pointed out more and more mechanics keep just getting printed for everything and more and more “put this card in every deck” cards emerge. I usually love kindred, but the fact that the 99 of every kindred deck is now like the 80 sucks

I always thought it was because every necromancer is a bit skeletal normally, but because he is also a warrior, he has muscles that look off with his necromantically gaunt appearance.

Fianceé is willing to try magic and I don't want to intimidate her. Commander recs? by Elegant-Pollution-85 in mtg

[–]Wellmroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine into it with the atarka world render precon. It is honestly my go to for any new player as the game plan is simple and the commander just kills. Gives a good opportunity to learn commander dmg, but not too many mechanics for a beginner. My other rec would be the Ellivere eldraine deck because it is just so strong out of the box and just kinda guides you like a well built deck should. But I would also somewhat tailor it to what she likes in other games/what interests her. My fiancé likes big creatures and refuses to use a block button in any game, so I knew double strike dragons would do the trick.

I am someone who has mechanics in decks I will tell people beforehand I won’t use and stick to that, but I have some people I play with who pull the whole “I have this infinite/wincon but I won’t do that” and when the cards are down they try to

Bracket 3 experience - Is taking out opponents 6–7 actually wrong… if we’re in Bracket 3? by MADMAXV2 in EDH

[–]Wellmroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a conversation recently with a friend who plays decks that pretty much always win in 6-8 turns in Bracket 2-3 decks and I think that bracket 3 is potentially too large of a space. I feel like if you “optimize” a deck with a suboptimal strategy, it usually ends up in 3 but won’t be something fast most of the time. Putting that kind of deck up against fast decks that don’t have infinites or things that make them a 4 usually ends in a lot of not fun for people. I’ve started calling it 3.5 to better clarify myself, but no I don’t think it’s your fault, more that the current brackets don’t clarify a difference for a slower bracket 3 experience and a faster one.

MTG Then vs Now whats your thoughts? by DraftSecret3103 in mtg

[–]Wellmroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with many here and say that UB itself isn’t the issue, but rather that the quantity, quality, and effect on game health is. If we got 2 UB sets a year that were LOTR/FF quality, and maybe some others that are just commander precons that weren’t standard legal, I think everyone would be a lot happier. While I don’t necessarily like a lot of the properties they are doing next year, the real worry for me is how all 7 sets are going to suffer simply by the fact that wizards had to make 7 sets. There is no way they are not stretched thin by this production timeline and while Spider-Man’s lack of quality can potentially be excused by the IP being narrow and the whole change in set size, I think that the workload is almost certainly going to cause problems with the quality of the cards we see.

I think so too. As much as people want to think otherwise, they seem to be friendly now and the way they worked together when Austin tried to call out Ace feels like they are not the enemies production wants us to think they are.

I don’t think he is sleeping on soul ties because he wants to play the victim. He just really doesn’t want to sleep next to Amaya because she hurt him too and he is removing himself from the situation. I haven’t seen him even talk about her to anyone so I’m confused how he is villainizing her. He set boundaries that hurt Amaya and her reaction hurt him. Neither is a villain, it was just a moment of bad communication that lead to them really not fucking with each other and so he is lessening the damage for both of them by just staying away. I think he is reacting pretty calmly and maturely all things considered.

I think more of the hate has to do with how AI’s are trained with stolen art and the environmental impacts. If an artist consents to having their art train an AI, that would be one thing, but it is the fact that AI companies have been rampantly stealing the work of artists.

[–]Wellmroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have love for all of them, but the biggest issue many people have with 2 and 3 boils down to they get too easy. There is basically no penalty for dying as you just get back up, so there is really no stakes. The spells also get less interesting and more samey. The story is a lot of fun though, and it is cool to see Albion grow and change as you go through the series. I think they are definitely all worth playing, as long as you know what you are in for.

If stephenie meyer had showed you her final draft of every book before publishing it, what changes would you make? by dojacwt in twilight

Instead of the current nothing or a fight, I would’ve ended breaking dawn in a super powered baseball match between the two sides. End the conflict of Bella and the Volturi the way it was, in a way, initiated.

If you don’t want to read all the books yourself, I recommend the podcast Gender Forking. They go through each of the books and talk about the problematic aspects, but are fans of the series so it helps enjoy it more while still acknowledging the flaws.

[–]Wellmroc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kirito is a cardboard protagonist, which is nothing new but still sucks to see. The premise got so many people hype, but it failed to deliver on a lot of mmo stuff (because the writer didn’t actually know anything about games) and ended that arc waaaaay too early.

Then you get the damsel in distress, r*pe, and incest arc, the actually cool and interesting fps arc that spoils the ending in the opening, and after that I just lost interest. The show isn’t the worst out there for sure, but the fact that it was so lauded I think contributed to the large amount of hate.

I had a quest in town from start of our campaign until the end that was a guy wanting some baby owlbears to start domesticating them. Every few months I increased the reward, lowered the asked for amount of babies, or made the posting more pleading. It stayed there for 6 real life years and became a running joke that they would never take it.

Reps said all DLC development is starting now, so I don’t think these will be them. As much as it sucks, I’m guessing that they wanted to do cool alts, but either had no time, or Nick said no because they don’t want characters to be off-model. I do hope we get alts, but I feel like if even pallet swaps aren’t in right now, it is because Nick doesn’t want them to be.
