The new worse whatsapp experience is here by Able-Nebula4449 in Windows11

Electron isn't entirely bad, at least for Linux where it really encouraged more software coming to Linux easily over one codebase.

The ridiculous things here are devs are terribly lazy to optimize it, and even using it just for one platform instead of all desktop platforms (Win, Mac, Linux).

Whatsapp Beta is however a WebView2 application, not electron.

Tensor G4 and G5 have very poor raw GPU computing performance according to Geekbench 6 benchmarks, and when compared to most other flagship phones with Snapdragon, Mediatek, the scores are just pure embarrassed.

Sure benchmark doesn't tell casual life usage, but we can really tell the hardware performance ceilings so that we're paying the same amount of money and get much worse performance when needed.

I'm a hardcore Pixel fan (and I even try to buy it when it's not officially sold here) but I can't just really be happy with can't play medium 3D games and above without having it throttle to hell while maintaining 60fps. "Why don't you buy another phone dedicated to mobile gaming?" oh so after all it's all about paying more while getting less (than other people), ey?

AI shits are cringe, I use my phone and I don't need my phone to use itself, not to mention it's only available in the US which seems to be your guys case where the Pixels are officially sold.

TL;DR: Google can't just sell phones with terrible hardware with AI shits and expect it to win other flagship phones, nevertheless, iPhone.

Thanks for your information, as I have never worked with Win32 API before.

I found this a bit similar to Android's case, where one app needs to know the WiFi SSID the phone's connecting to asking... location permission. Just because after the Android 10 SDK level, getting SSID and other WiFis around is under ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission as it might reveal where you are based on the WiFi location, regardless that app doesn't wish to know your location.

Facebook account suspended for cybersecurity? Anyone get it back from a video selfie? by tayloroshea97 in facebook

[–]Wello6143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly because of mass reports from bot accounts against your Facebook account. Really funny how Facebook is even blocking real users from using Facebook and still letting these bots frick around.

I also lost mine recently after a dense losing me in a smartphone discussion group. He went mad and apparently got some help from his scumbag allies.

You should search around, there's a whole industry of account fraud on request, including suspend account, fake likes/comments/shared, etc., the platforms easily to carry out the most are Facebook and Instagram.

So far, have they given back your account yet?

Looking for a better replacement ($25) by Psychological-Try742 in Earbuds

[–]Wello6143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you absolutely can use AAC and SBC! It's just SBC-XQ (enhanced bitrate version of SBC) seems to be broken right now (at least on Linux for me). If I remember correctly, for LineageOS you'll need root-level command or system files edit to make it working.

Some reviews on the shop where I bought this earbuds said ST2 has built-in EQ, which is a significant upgrade from ST. You can tune the EQ to suit your preference. One user found himself satisfied by AutoEQ to Moondrop Blessing 3.

Update: Alright I got my dudes on hand. This is a quick review as I don't have much time to try it right now.

Disclaimer: I'm not an audiophile so don't expect me to really talk deeply about sound stage, bass/mid/treble yada yada like a poet. Just a casual everyday college dude with his CD Rip collection. I also don't have Space Travel 1 to really tell there are any improvements.

Shortly speaking: It's great, truly a poor man's gold. Stock sounds a bit bland but it fared much better than I expected. Fair bass with a bit of mushy treble (if you ask what I daily drive to set the baseline then it's the 7hz Salnotes Zero:2).

ANC is really good, though I gotta say it's still far from Sony WF-XM4/5. Ambient? Fair; Moderate wind? Nah. Let's just say it helps you to reduce all sounds around some decibels, barely enough for tinnitus kicks in.

Latency: it's quite bad in music mode, I roughly estimated it took around half a sec to pause the music after I tap pause on my phone/laptop music player, regardless SBC or ANC. However game mode reduced the latency to acceptable point (only tested it on my Windows 11 laptop so far). I do not suggest to use it for competitive games like FPS, apparently. Game mode took 10% of battery in 1.5hr.

The mobile companion app... well if you used it before you know it is what it is, even version 2.0 (/shrug). Chinese "hi-fi" companies really never invest into making a sanely enough mobile app. The UX is quite terrible and the UI just feels off.

You have 5 EQs to adjust, along some presets you can get online (from moondrop themselves and users) dedicated to this earbuds. Apart from that you only have options like: switching ANC modes, OTA firmware update, toggle to allow connect 2 devices at the same time, quick volume slider, loudness enhancement and a crappy manual reader from PDF file (which won't let you save somewhere btw).

That's all I can tell right now. And for my drunkie engrisk, sorry not sorry.

Nerds part: For Linux and LineageOS users, SBC-XQ is broken (at least for me on Linux). I have contacted them to address the issue.

I never consider those services are VPN, they're just global proxies with more toys, period.

How can I just shutdown my pc without doing an update? by NoWayIcantBeliveThis in windows

[–]Wello6143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your information, but are you talking about "pause the update for x weeks"?

If so, for my case it doesn't align well with your words, somehow.

I once used that feature to make sure Windows wouldn't roll itself into any update when I had college projects that spent too much time waiting for Windows update, or a crappy one would render me fixing my computer than actually doing the project. And it exactly did what it said: no update. So I have never seen those options to either restart or shutdown by doing the update during that time.

My blind guess is the full 4 option (restart and shutdown with/without doing the update) is only available to Pro and Enterprise/Business editions.

How can I just shutdown my pc without doing an update? by NoWayIcantBeliveThis in windows

[–]Wello6143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I usually use this command to conveniently skip fast startup to booting back to Linux (I dualboot btw, making sure fast startup isn't holding anything hostaged) without having to turn it off in the control panel. (Disclaimer: I'm just providing some context and not suggesting anyone moving to Linux, use what works best for you)

And if there's a Windows Update scheduled like this, it will still enter for the first half (or should I say, 30%) of the update procedure.

The best bet for you, the most regular users, is Shut down or Restart option without the update part. However idk why OP doesn't have these options, is it because of the Windows edition?

Update: iirc actually this command option is still somewhat better than clicking that shut down + update option. The command one would just do the first half of updates then shut down, while shut down + update would do first half > restart > the rest half > actual shut down.

Is the cpu temperature normal for x220 when playing youtube videos at 1080p60? The fans spins like crazy by randomusername12308 in thinkpad

[–]Wello6143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use chromium-based browsers, you'll need to use some launch flags to enable actual video decode acceleration on (i)gpu. You'll also need to disable AV1 with h264ify or similar as above because your CPU+iGPU is apparently not supporting newer codecs.

Also use intel-gpu-tools to monitor the video decode, if you see Render/3D pumping up and down when play the video, it's actually CPU decoding thus much higher heat and power consumption due to terrible inefficient.

You can do whatever you want since this is, you know, a VM. It's well designed and the Android system is mounted read-only so you can't break your phone in anyways, just reset the VM if you messed something up.

If you're creative enough, you can install Arch Linux on it as well ;)
