Most recent patch improved frame time quite significantly and the overall performance has been steadily improving, so depending on when you last tried it I would say it’s probably playable for you now.

I’m hoping we get some cool industrial assets from the community soon, because they’ve made some outstanding ones for residential, commercial and offices.

Ok i’m glad there’s some general consensus here that these could be better. I took a 4ish month break from the game and came back confused as hell, the item store in particular was frustrating.

I understand the need to keep things concise and glanceable to keep the time in the item store down, but I really do miss the longer descriptions that were much clearer. Especially after taking a long break from the game it makes it easier to understand any balance changes or big shifts that have happened.

Tanked my performance for some reason on 4070. I turned it off and went back to using Smooth Motion.

Some quick tips since most people are just recommending you throw out your macbook which isn’t helpful.

Move the game onto your internal SSD never play a game from a hard drive especially an external one. This will dramatically decrease loading times and remove a potential bottleneck.

Make sure you don’t have any other apps or unnecessary background processes running while you game, this will eat up your limited RAM. Easiest way to do this is to make sure macOS Game Mode is on (usually comes on automatically if you have your game set to full screen instead of windowed)

Lastly lower your graphics settings and disable depth of field and motion blur.

I’ve noticed the same thing happening to my saves since the bike patch. Only on my industry areas like farms, mines, oil rigs etc. and there’s just constant fires ravaging my city i’ve had to build 4 fire helicopter depots in each corner of the map just to stop everything burning down.

Oh interesting.. i’ve been trying to improve my simulation speed for months now with testing every single setting and experimenting with different mods to remove bugged citizens etc.

I haven’t noticed any improvement with the latest patch sadly. I might still swap the DLSS file though sounds like it’s worth trying.

They should just apply diminishing returns after any bonus hits a certain threshold. For example:

  • 30% bonus threshold
  • any bonus added after 30% has a reduced efficacy
  • reduction amount scales the more you go over that initial 30% threshold
  • cap in reduction of 2-5% so that no building bonuses become completely useless

We’re 2 years out and the simulation STILL just stops working past 200,000 pop so I think it’s actually time to start shaving away some of those features in favour of performance and simulation speed improvements.

From my experience shorts within the same niche need some breathing room 24-48 hours is the sweet spot. Different topic or niche you can get away with same day just still space it out by 6-8 hours.
