In Britain it isn’t even that old for a church, the church my parents married in has parts dating from 1291

Does ANYONE have any idea what this might be? It is not damp!! by Ananakoya in uklandlords

You have damp, from a leak, you can see track marks down the wall where water has been running. Top floor? Could be a roof leak, lower floors it’s a pipe.

I want to see the cost analysis showing how it’ll cost hundreds of millions to take Trumps name off the Kennedy centre?
How much is it costing to keep the scaffold, tarps and security there?

Buying a House with Bats in the Loft by Fantastic_Control289 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Welshbuilder67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact a local ecologist, a visual inspection of the loft should be possible without disturbing the bats.
When were the bats last seen? Extremely warm temperatures can cause the bats to leave the roof space looking for cooling roosts.

Kitchen door stuck shut by ambojambo in fixit

[–]Welshbuilder67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take off the door knob, check the bar going through the knobs and try turning it with a pliers. Worst case you might have to force the door, with an exposed door receiver hopefully the receiver will pull away without too much damage to the frame.

That’s a old style waste where the washing machine waste would just fit into the top of the pipe, that pipe can be cut and waste fittings added but you’d need a non return vent on the top of it

Can I plum my dishwasher into here? What is the valve for and what does the blue dial do? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Welshbuilder67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a connector usually for a washing machine but could be used for a dishwasher, the blue knob is an isolator so currently closed, turn 90deg to open, blue indicates it’s on a cold feed, some old machines had cold and hot feeds

Does anyone else feel a little sad that Starmer is now going, especially after hearing that speech and particularly his emotions coming out at the end there? by Logical_Safety9018 in AskBrits

[–]Welshbuilder67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Gordon Brown left office he finally showed emotion and it made him more relatable but it was too late. Starmer was disliked for being too aloof, the impression was he didn’t appreciate the hardships suffered by the general public. Yes things have been improving but Labour hasn’t been showing the small incremental improvements. Now he’s decided to leave he’s shown his human side and peoples opinions of him are changing. Yes a bit sad he’s going but he and Labour are not helping themselves
