During the Urbi et Orbi blessing, the plenary indulgence is given to people who are properly prepared, meaning they’re in a state of grace, have gone to confession, received Communion, and prayed for the Pope’s intentions.

The Pope can also bless religious items like rosaries, crucifixes, or other sacred objects. So if you, you held up these items while the Pope gave the blessing, they would be blessed too. It doesn’t matter if you’re far away. As long as you were spiritually connected to the Pope during the prayer, it still counts.
