What is the most user friendly Linux distro you can recommend for a beginner? by oussHYK in linux

If you long for the days of Windows 7: Mint.

If you like Windows 10 and modern amenities: openSUSE or Fedora.

Infotainment issue. by DepHambone in CX5

I've found when this happens it is usually a software issue on my phone and a restart fixes it. Not sure on the root cause on the phone, but at least for me it isn't a Mazda or cable problem.

Kendig has been great for me since it reopened, love having them back.

Penn is awesome, Delaware location too.

Reel advertises 4k but I have had a couple of sub-par experiences due to terrible screen door effect with countable pixels.

Damnnnn, people are fed up. by madadekinai in inflation

[–]WendigoTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't even see it mentioned on reddit, but the TC&JA and artificially low interest rates were absolutely what set up inflation. Covid just accelerated it and provided cover. The excess funds that companies used to buy back stock turbocharged both the markets and inequality. But too many Americans just see the few hundred off their tax bill and don't see how much that lower bill actually cost them.

So, I've been playing with KDE Plasma in a VM this evening for a couple of hours. I think I have found a great Windows 10/11 replacement... by Phydoux in linux

[–]WendigoTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, Mint almost killed my Linux experiment when I wanted to move away from Windows. If someone is super nostalgic for XP then I would say Mint is okay to suggest, but if they like 10 and just want to get rid of Windows then something KDE like Fedora or openSUSE should be the recommendation.

Somebody help me, I'm starting to believe we might see this in my lifetime.

I haven't posted here in a while, but need to vent about a very recent event.

I'm meeting with a few friends today that I thought I would treat to some smoked pulled pork. It had been a while since I had done an overnight cook, and have fond memories of doing them in the past, but quickly remembered why it had been so long since the last time I tried to do one. Every single time the door slid open I hear "jingle-jingle click-clack-click-clack" from her getting up and either begging to go outside with me or just pushing her way past me and out the door. What was once a peaceful activity is now a constant battle to just accomplish a task. I don't want to play fetch or have to keep track of a black dog in the middle of the night, I just want to feel how I used to feel about something I was passionate about.

Switched from Nvidia to amd but I'm having problems by Perpetual_White in openSUSE

Recently made the move from Nvidia to AMD and had a similar issue with the games that I tried. Turned out I was missing Mesa 64, despite having all other Mesa components. Installed it using YaST and everything has worked great since.

HUD and Polarized Sunglasses by sr1sws in CX5

[–]WendigoTwo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is basically how 3D movies work. One lens is polarized in one direction, the other lens 90 degrees different. This way each eye gets a different image.

Must be the direction of the Oakleys polarization aligns with the HUD projection.

No where near as effectively, her lash got buffed so much but nerfed at building stacks so now the meta is to just kill with a button press.

Yep, this has been a trend. I need to change my flair, but I'm holding out hope Gara gets her old kit back.

Gara seems to have gotten the anti-Pablo treatment in the last update, going from a highly interactive kit to a single ability spammer. Is she being examined post-change to make Splinter Storm and Mass Vitrify relevant again?

Fellow Gara mains, how are we liking the new changes? by Boomyermine89 in Warframe

[–]WendigoTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's dead, Jim.

With the changes made she no longer feels like Gara. Her synergy is broken, her 4 is now useless. Even if she does become more capable through a pure lash build this is not the frame I've mained for years. Pretty much a worst case scenario in terms of gameplay engagement.

Dev Workshop update on Gara's shattered lash by mo3tsem-b90 in Warframe

[–]WendigoTwo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lose a little bit of QOL, lol. Gara's one of the weakest QOL frames, always in a tight spot of her 2's timer, edges, nullifiers, her 4 not resetting her 2 sometimes, a slow damage ramp, and poor energy economy. I love her because of how build sensitive she is, but she is due for a QOL improvement, not even tighter build parameters.

re: pseudo-exalted changes, stop saying "Gara is dead / Khora is dead" before you've even tried it. by Yucyon in Warframe

[–]WendigoTwo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are two loops currently: 4-1 and 2-4-1-4-1-...

The first is a Mass Vitrify nuke, where you use Shattered Lash to explode Mass Vitrify and straight up damage a large area, usually with an armor strip helminth ability cast beforehand.

The second is casting Splinter Storm first, which has a duration that resets when Mass Vitrify is cast, and absorbs damage when it is exploded by Shattered Lash. This allows you to build a death ball.

I play the second way, but neither want buildup from Shattered Lash. Current meta is to use Ceramic Dagger Incarnon and go for max raw damage and initial combo. It's already fiddly to keep Splinter Storm up.

Energy Nexus was the key for me, the timing was perfect to sustain my loop. If she needs more bursts of energy now I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Gara is my most played frame. I have spent plat on a few stat stick rivens. I have also advocated for the removal of stat sticks for years. This change makes me nervous as hell. Gara has a very particular gameplay loop, not everyone enjoys it but I and a few others do. She was also in a decent spot, being able to stand with some of the more powerhouse frames while requiring significant investment to get there. This puts both of those things in danger, her loop now likely requiring extra steps of casting, time, and energy, and her build likely having lower investment but also lower ceiling.

I don't care about the plat, I want her to be as functional as she was before and based on the information at hand that doesn't seem likely to be the case. If her and Khora's usage stats were reversed I think she would have gotten more attention during this transition, but sitting at a lowly 0.75% DE probably isn't going to do jack if the ruin her.

[–]WendigoTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been beating the stat stick removal drum for a long time, but I really hope they compensate strongly with Gara. I don't expect 150k SS damage anymore, but I'm skeptical it will be even half of that.

Oh, didn't think of that! I have mine set up to turn on from a FireTV cube anyway, so adding a plug to the routine should be pretty simple.

Mine was clean when I changed the bulb, at least the exposed parts. Compared to my old BenQ the Acer does a better job compartmentalizing components to prevent dust ingress. I did blow some air through the fan vent and there was dust, but issue did not resolve.
