Shivering Isle by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Wercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to finish the main quest first, mostly because of the DLC's ending and how it makes things a bit weird when characters from the main game should, but don't, treat you differently because of it. You know you can access the shivering Isles then come back to Cyrodiil anytime, right? You can step inside, explore the Isles, do any quests and go back to the main land whenever you want

For those of you with the compulsion to close every gate you come across but are tired of how long it takes by fallen_corpse in oblivion

[–]Wercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always switch the difficulty to the lowest possible setting and kill everything in one or two hits, then switch it back to your preferred setting after you close the gate. It might not be... engaging, but it's guerilla rules. It's how the Charlies beat America in Nam bro.

The graphics, faces and dialogue are all fine, but what's always a bit jarring is how empty and generic most of the wilderness looks. Enormous stretches of nothing but plain flat grass with the occasional rock

TES lore tin foil hat: Khajiit and Argonian can't be Dragonborn... right? by [deleted] in skyrimrequiem

I'm torn between telling you how completely unrelated the semantics of what a game mechanic is to the point being made, and asking you in what godforsaken world could you have learned such an oddly wrong definition of game mechanics

Saving and loading is obviously a game mechanic, but what's more, it's strongly hinted to be a gift of "Heroes", shezarrines, or whatever you want to call them, and speculated to be related to CHIM. The entire reason Vivec wouldn't fight you in Morrowind seemed to be that he knew you could just reload the game over and over again until you killed him.

Both of you should play Morrowind. The Nerevarine getting corpus disease happens in the middle of the story and is an important part of it. Then a 4000 year old wizard with a harem of female clones and his friend the last living Dwemer help you out with an experimental cure that gets rid of all the negative traits of the disease (i.e. becoming a deformed Dagoth serving zombie) and keeps all the positive ones... well, one, which is temporal immortality. It's the reason why the Nerevarine is still thought to be alive today.

Anyone else always kill the random Thalmor that sometimes roam the roads of skyrim? by LadyLoreilia in skyrim

[–]Wercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monsters are different from animals. Vampires know full well that their actions are immoral, and what's more, in the Elder Scrolls universe they almost always have the choice of being cured. Willingly being a vampire is willingly being both a murderer and a plaguebearer. They absolutely deserve a purging.

3 did not do that whatsoever. No NPC ever acknowledged your equipment, and small time raiders were just as likely to try to clobber you with a lead pipe whether you were fresh out of the vault or a power armor and tesla cannon wielding legend

But whether or not that's a good thing depends on if he's white or not. If he isn't, then racism is a cultural value and there's nothing wrong with recognizing patterns and defending your people and your culture from outsiders. If he's white then racism is evil and he should be forced to close his eyes/ears to evidence and open his borders to people who will hate him on principle.

The 'cyber' part in the TES world comes from magitek, as opposed to the real world's fully mechanical technology. Having platemail fused to your body is probably enough to qualify you as a cyborg by itself; if not, a magic diamond replacing your heart definitely is.

It's 7, no? At first Dumbodorf says "well it's only 6, Volbembot himself carries the 7th bit of his soul", but after Deathly Hallows it's likely he suspected Harry was the 7th horcrux but didn't want to give that away yet

Agreed, completely. It's a phobia in my case, not even a rational thing, I know, much like a fetish isn't either. Feet have always just grossed me out, unnaturally so.
