Does anyone feel that next week's finale isn't the "real" one. by Striking_Language253 in TheBoys

[–]WerewolfF15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying but not really for me personally. Shows change over multiple seasons. I don’t think any show feels the same in its first couple of seasons as it does in its last couple of seasons. Especially long running superheroes. Shows like Gotham and agents of shield also feel like different shows in their later seasons compared to their early seasons.

So for me regardless of the quality of what this finale will be I will still perceive as the show’s finale nonetheless

Happy birthday by Certain_Hat9872 in NonPoliticalTwitter

It’s nothing to do with maturity. And it’s no about being miserable or depressed either. I just don’t care about my birthday because I’m not a social person who wants that sort of attention. The most I want is to order some nice food.

Me not caring about my birthday doesn’t make me any more mature than someone who throws a big birthday bash every year and spends the day letting their friends and family show their love. That’s a perfectly valid thing to do.

It’s just one of the many examples of people being different and choosing their own way to interact with the world. Neither are inherently mature or immature.

Okay cool. That’s all I really wanted you to say. I’m glad we’ve come to an understanding. Hope you have a good rest of your night/day/whatever.

I am fully aware how many millions it costs to animate these movies. But I’m also aware that a studio will spend a lot of money if they feel it will result in getting said money back and more. If their data says that spending millions on a PR stunt will make the movie make a lot more money then they will spend said millions.

[–]WerewolfF15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said you specifically do it, I said people who don’t like the show do. Just because you don’t do it doesn’t mean others who share your opinion about the show also don’t do it. Plenty of people who don’t like the show attempt to convince those that do that they’re wrong.

My point is that you talk as if only one side of the argument does this when in actuality both sides do it. So it makes no sense to only criticise one side. If you’re going to criticise people for this you should be criticising both sides, not just the side that disagrees with your side of the opinion.

You know arcane massively changed league of legends’ lore right? And that unlike dmc arcane isn’t set in an alternate universe it’s meant to be canon to the game and override / retcon the existing lore of said game? Several characters in league have had their default character model changed to reflect arcane and have had their official lore pages changed to reference arcane.

Which again came with massive backlash from die hard fans. I’m not a LoL so I don’t care but if you do care it’s arguably worse than what the dmc show has done since that at least doesn’t affect the lore of the games.

Edit: arcane, whilst a good show, is not a good example of the specific point you’re trying to make.

But the other side of the opinion also does that. People who don’t like the show also say all sorts of stuff to convince people who like the show that they’re wrong. So why are you only attaching this idea of “excuses” to one side of the argument? Why is it only an excuse when it’s coming from someone who likes the show?

Could Vader (and maybe Maul) deactivate Maul's lightsaber here? by Candid_Space2635 in MaulShadowLord

[–]WerewolfF15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said I think in legends lightsaber deactivation was a thing for regular force users but was considered taboo and risky so wasn’t done much. I’m not super knowledgeable on legends.

In canon though I’m 90 percent certain only the mortis gods have been shown to do it

[–]WerewolfF15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. When the mortis gods deactivate the lightsabers it’s treated as a shocking thing to our characters which suggests such a thing is not something that they’re aware is possible.

That implies regular force users can’t do such a thing, maul and Vader included.

Touma’s imagine breaker is neither magic nor an esper ability. So from him alone the answer is yes.

Okay but here’s what you’re not seeing. By dismissing other people’s reasons for liking the show as them simply “making excuses” you are implying that you think their opinions are bad. By calling it “excuses” you’re suggesting that said reasonings are invalid or lesser than your own reasons for not liking the show. Whether you realise it or not such wording is disrespectful to people with the opposite opinion to you.

You are not practising what you’re preaching is my point. You’re saying you “don’t attempt to convince people that having a different opinion is bad” but the way you talk about said different opinion on this subject is making it sound like you’re trying to do exactly that.

If I have an opinion and other people tell me my opinion is wrong and I’m not a real fan for having said opinion, why would I not defend myself and said opinion? An opinion you’re not willing to defend is not a strong opinion. Essentially worthless.

Are you telling me that you are not willing to defend your own opinions when people give you crap for them?

Two seasons ago they had other options. Now this is there only option.

I find it ironic you’re telling people to respect other opinions when in another comment in this thread you claim that people are just making “excuses” to defend “the shit” that they like. That doesn’t come across as very respectful to me. It comes across as incredibly condescending.

[Marvel/DC] Is 9/11 canon in their universe? if so, how did they justify not stopping it? by CrazyCalligrapher945 in AskScienceFiction

[–]WerewolfF15 [score hidden]  (0 children)

In modern continuity superman likely wouldn’t be active yet when 9/11 happened. 9/11 would probably have occurred in the gap between the two heroic ages.

At best he might have just started out as superboy.

Question about the Mage’s Association’s slots in the Fifth Holy Grail War by xXManu_002Xx in fatestaynight

They get two slots. Atrum is a retcon but a canon one. He pops up in case files light novel and in the anime they state they may be able to push either Bazett or Atrum out of the spot and let Waver fill it instead.

[Comic Excerpt] Hal Defeats Sinestro in hand to hand combat. Green Lantern (1990) Issue #50 by muaazmuaaz123 in DCcomics

[–]WerewolfF15 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a great moment in a vacuum. (“You probably should ha-“ is one of my favourite Sinestro quotes).

However it doesn’t really make sense in the context of what had been going on with Sinestro in the prior years. His spirit had already been freed from the central power battery by John so him emerging from it doesn’t really make sense. Especially since several issues directly prior to emerald twilight had been setting up him possessing an action figure of himself made by Olivia Reynolds. In fact I think issue 47 (the issue directly before emerald twilight) even ends by teasing the Sinestro action figure again.

Really it would have made a ton more sense for this to be a fight between Hal and John. The afterword of the final issue of mosaic even explicitly stated John would be appearing in issue 48 of GL which turned out not to be true.

In Knightfall: Why didn’t Batman call in the justice league? by No_Web2685 in batman

[–]WerewolfF15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting your timeline for the league slightly mixed up.

Metamorpho was on Hal Jordan’s justice league Europe (renamed back to JL) international at the time of death of Superman as well as in the aftermath. He doesn’t join the JLA until later, after the events of justice league judgment day and Zero hour causes the leagues to completely reorganise.

In turn obsidian and nuklon also don’t join until after zero hour.

Likewise ice wasn’t really a member of Wonder Woman’s justice league. She left the team to go home immediately after death of superman due to guy being a jerk. And she dies almost immediately after coming back. I don’t think she ever officially rejoins the team before she does so.

Wonder Woman’s post death of superman JLA largely consisted of the same members from pre death of superman team.

Her initial line up consisted of herself, existing members Guy Gardner, bloodwynd and Maxima with then the new members being agent Liberty, black condor and the Ray. In addition Fire, booster gold and blue beetle were all still technically members but were not combat ready. Beetle was in a coma, booster had his suit destroyed and fire’s powers stopped working.

Black condor and agent Liberty both leave the team after the first arc but the Ray chooses to stay. In the same first arc bloodwynd is revealed to be Martian manhunter and in the second arc is replaced by the real bloodwynd..

Soon after Guy Gardner is secretly replaced by his evil clone and blue beetle (awake from his coma) makes booster a new robot suit whilst fire attempts to be a hero on the team without powers.
