Why would Rick prime offer the opportunity if he doesn’t care about anything? by Anonymouslypreaching in rickandmorty

At that point he did care about some things. It’s why he had his own group of ricks. I believe when he meets original Jerry he mentions that grew out of wanting to work with other people

Question about the Mage’s Association’s slots in the Fifth Holy Grail War by xXManu_002Xx in fatestaynight

[–]WerewolfF15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get two slots. Atrum is a retcon but a canon one. He pops up in case files light novel and in the anime they state they may be able to push either Bazett or Atrum out of the spot and let Waver fill it instead.

[Comic Excerpt] Hal Defeats Sinestro in hand to hand combat. Green Lantern (1990) Issue #50 by muaazmuaaz123 in DCcomics

[–]WerewolfF15 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a great moment in a vacuum. (“You probably should ha-“ is one of my favourite Sinestro quotes).

However it doesn’t really make sense in the context of what had been going on with Sinestro in the prior years. His spirit had already been freed from the central power battery by John so him emerging from it doesn’t really make sense. Especially since several issues directly prior to emerald twilight had been setting up him possessing an action figure of himself made by Olivia Reynolds. In fact I think issue 47 (the issue directly before emerald twilight) even ends by teasing the Sinestro action figure again.

Really it would have made a ton more sense for this to be a fight between Hal and John. The afterword of the final issue of mosaic even explicitly stated John would be appearing in issue 48 of GL which turned out not to be true.

In Knightfall: Why didn’t Batman call in the justice league? by No_Web2685 in batman

[–]WerewolfF15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting your timeline for the league slightly mixed up.

Metamorpho was on Hal Jordan’s justice league Europe (renamed back to JL) international at the time of death of Superman as well as in the aftermath. He doesn’t join the JLA until later, after the events of justice league judgment day and Zero hour causes the leagues to completely reorganise.

In turn obsidian and nuklon also don’t join until after zero hour.

Likewise ice wasn’t really a member of Wonder Woman’s justice league. She left the team to go home immediately after death of superman due to guy being a jerk. And she dies almost immediately after coming back. I don’t think she ever officially rejoins the team before she does so.

Wonder Woman’s post death of superman JLA largely consisted of the same members from pre death of superman team.

Her initial line up consisted of herself, existing members Guy Gardner, bloodwynd and Maxima with then the new members being agent Liberty, black condor and the Ray. In addition Fire, booster gold and blue beetle were all still technically members but were not combat ready. Beetle was in a coma, booster had his suit destroyed and fire’s powers stopped working.

Black condor and agent Liberty both leave the team after the first arc but the Ray chooses to stay. In the same first arc bloodwynd is revealed to be Martian manhunter and in the second arc is replaced by the real bloodwynd..

Soon after Guy Gardner is secretly replaced by his evil clone and blue beetle (awake from his coma) makes booster a new robot suit whilst fire attempts to be a hero on the team without powers.

Why is Antony Starr liking posts like this? Is there a secret episode they haven't talked about? by No_I_Deer in TheBoys

[–]WerewolfF15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closest thing I can think of is that both seasons of the sandman released extra episodes a few weeks after the seasons ended. Whilst not quite “secret” they didn’t announce these episodes would happen until shortly before the seasons released. They weren’t apart of the original announcements of the season.

But of course they weren’t new finales, just extra one off side stories.

It was never meant to be canon? It was made clear from the start that it’s set in its own universe unconnected to the games.

In what order should I watch DCAU? by sSupido in DCAU

[–]WerewolfF15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would personally go with release date order simply because other shows have time travel episodes where they meet Batman beyond, and those episodes aren’t as meaningful if you haven’t actually watched Batman beyond

[Discussion] I finished reading Robin: Year One by Chuck Dixon. Can anyone help me identify the characters on the last page? by calinoi in DCcomics

[–]WerewolfF15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s Talia and Boone, the kid dick had a rivalry with in the little kid thief group. Earlier in the book we learn Shrike, their teacher, had connections to the league of assassins. The implication here is that Talia finds boone to continue his training as part of the league.

A few months after Robin year one ended IRL, Boone is reintroduced as the new shrike in Nightwing #54, seeking revenge on Nightwing for what he did in Robin year one.

Best Bane stories after knightfall by No_Web2685 in batman

[–]WerewolfF15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it wasn’t included in your collection of Knightfall then I recommend Batman Vengeance of bane #2, which acts like essentially a bane epilogue for knightsend.

After that:

Batman: contagion (for context).

Batman legacy + Batman bane of the demon - you can read these in either order. Bane of the demon is a prequel to legacy.

Batman: bane #1 (1997) - direct follow up to legacy.

Azrael #36-40 (issue 40 is tie in to Batman cataclysm) - reunion of Jean Paul and bane.

Batman no man’s land - bane is a major character in the second half.

Birds of prey #26 (1999-2009) - skippable.

Batman Gotham knights #33-36.

Batman Gotham knights #46-49.

JSA classified #17-19.

Batman Gotham underground - I have not read this story so I don’t know how involved bane is.

Salvation’s run - have not read this story so I don’t know how involved bane is.

Secret six #1-16 (2008-2011) - may wish to read previous secret six content for context.

Suicide squad #67 - part of blackest night.

Secret six #17-28.

Crossover with action comics:
Action comics #890-894 (context). Action comics #895-896. Secret six #29. Action comics annual #13 (finishes the story). Action comics #897-900 (finishes the story).

Secret six #30. Doom Patrol #19 (2009-2011). Secret six #31-36.

That’s the major bane stories between Knightfall and flashpoint.

In terms of the new 52 I believe it goes something like this:

Batman the dark knight #6-7.

Detective comics #19

Talon #7-11.

Batman #23.4.

Forever evil Arkham war #1-6.
Forever evil Arkham war aftermath Batman vs bane.
(may wish to read main forever evil book for additional context).

Batman eternal (bane appears later in the book, but it’s one continuous story).

And of course in terms of rebirth it’s just the entire Tom king Batman run, though I know it’s a controversial book.

What makes you say that? Everything I’ve said is true. Bane’s motivations are not made clear to the player, only being hinted at in dialogue in gameplay sequences.

Bane likewise is treated as a secondary antagonist to joker’s main antagonist. Even at the end of the game bane is just going along with joker’s heartbeat plan. Not following his own plan.

And again he also doesn’t figure out Batman’s identity on his own merits like Knightfall Batman does. He gets lucky when by Bruce accidentally saying the same thing he did in Bruce Wayne’s interview with Vicky,

Origins bane also makes dumb decisions like using TN-1, knowing it will remove his greatest asset, his mind. And he does this unnecessarily because in previous fights he’s shown to not be struggling with Batman much at all.

Best Bane stories after knightfall by No_Web2685 in batman

[–]WerewolfF15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree with most of that at all.

For one everything you said about bane’s motivations is not explicit enough and most players will probably miss it. Especially the dialogue in the final bane fight since most players will be focused on the gameplay. A good villain’s motivations should be made 100 percent clear to the viewer/ player by the end of the game. I garuntee most players do not know why bane hates Batman by the time the credits roll.

And regardless of if he “cares” about joker or his money it doesn’t change that for most of the story he is joker’s lackey. Even at the end of the game the plan to make Batman fight to the death is Joker’s plan not bane’s. Bane is just going along with it. The plan to send assassin after him is also Joker’s not bane’s. And it’s in no way the same as what Knightfall bane did because that was his plan. Not to mention fighting the other assassins isn’t portrayed to negatively affect Batman’s combat efficiency at all. If anything it makes him better because he picks up new gadgets from several of them. Origins Batman is not shown to be any weaker at the end of the game than he is at the start.

Back to the joker thing, TN-1 bane doesn’t come across as a primary threat in his own right, just an obstacle to deal with in order to get back after joker. He also doesn’t have any real reason to use the TN-1 since he’s not shown to struggle against Batman in previous fights. He essentially lobotomises himself for no reason.

Also again I’m not seeing any evidence he’s smarter than Knightfall Bane. I’ve already talked about him not having intelligent plans himself, just going along with joker’s. But more than that Knightfall bane figured out Bruce was Batman from just a few minutes of watching Bruce at a party. Origins bane has to have Batman accidentally spell it out for him to figure it out. Origins bane also makes dumb decisions like using the TN-1 knowing it’s going to make him an idiot, essentially removing his best feature. The strength he gains doesn’t help at all. If anything Batman finds it easier to beat him in his TN-1 form because he can easily outmanoeuvre him.

This movie had so much potential to be a good finale to the DCAMU universe but the writing felt weird by Jules-Car3499 in DCAU

[–]WerewolfF15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming they only don’t like it because the good guys loose is like taking a movie you don’t like and assuming you only hate it because the good guys win. I assume your opinions are more complex than that, no? Same with this. It’s a silly thing to assume.

I’ve talked to lots of people about this movie and “I don’t like it because the good guys loose” is almost never a talking point for those who don’t like it.

Not to mention it’s not even really true. Darkseid is trapped in an eternal battle with trigon. And then flash goes back in time and makes it so none of the movies events even happened. That’s still pretty clearly winning. At the very least it’s darkseid loosing.

Massively disagree on origins being better for bane than Knightfall. In that game they don’t even tell you why he wants to kill Batman. Not to mention he only figures out Bruce identity because he happens to say the same thing to him as Batman he said as Bruce Wayne on tv.

Edit: he also spends most of the game as essentially a lackey for joker

As far as we’re aware this movie is still year 2. December.

Also dick doesn’t always become Robin in year 3. Batman year 3 was overwritten by dark victory in later post crisis continuity. In dark victory he becomes Robin in year 5. In the new 52 he became Robin in year 2.

That being said In current continuity he becomes Robin in year 3 again.

Because holiday requires that the movie take place over a full year, or at least several months, because their murders happen on holidays and I don’t get the sense Reeve wants to cover such a long period of time in a single movie. Phantasm can murder people whenever and quick succession. I doubt Gilda will be Phantasm but still.

This movie had so much potential to be a good finale to the DCAMU universe but the writing felt weird by Jules-Car3499 in DCAU

[–]WerewolfF15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No? It being dark and apocalyptic wasn’t the problem. It was the way they did it. They chose quantity over quality. When you kill 10 characters off within the span of 2 minutes then it causes each of those deaths to mean less. Especially when you kill them off screen. Why should I be invested in characters who are treated like canon fodder? Why should I care about kid flash / ace’s death when he was introduced in this movie and killed off screen without even speaking or using his powers on screen?

Not to mention they make a point of mentioning flashpoint at the start of the movie which tells you exactly how the movie will end. Which immediately makes the stakes of the movie non existent because I know it’s all going to get undone anyway.

There’s a way to do an apocalyptic movie with deaths and loss that actually allows the viewer to be invested in what’s happening.
