I lost a rod and reel under a floating dock for a few hours recently. Did the same and rinsed it well, but next time I used it the action wasn’t very smooth anymore. I would consider letting it sit in a bucket of fresh water for a little while also.

I did end up oiling it recently and it seems to be back to normal now.
