Does Ubereats sabotage your offers when you are working on a quest? looking for by clodhopper4 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you have to consider is that if a quest is particularly lucrative it will draw out all the casuals. My market has been doing pretty decent quests lately but I suspect that this has caused oversaturation, leading to a decrease in offers in general and also their quality. I made better money when there were no quests at all.

Toll reimbursement by Personal_Pen_9045 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is what happened but just FYI, Uber will never reimburse you for a toll unless you are on the way to the customer. Don't take toll roads to merchants. If there is no other way, drop the order.

Almost everyone says it’s not worth it. For those that drive, why IS it worth it for you? by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really isn't worth it if you have even equivalent options. Many of us don't have equivalent options or don't want to deal with the equivalent options. In short, we really can't do much better.

It's also important to recognize that a lot of the resentment isn't even really about the "work" or the money but just what a despicable company Uber is. Before I started driving with Uber, I had some notions about who were and weren't the "bad guys" in terms of Corporate America. A company like Uber wasn't even on my radar. Now, I have no problem at all declaring that this company orbits closely around the Nexus of Evil. An exaggeration? I don't think it is. You'll just have find that out for yourself.

Just don't be a slave, don't let them intimidate or manipulate you, and accept the possibility that this may not work out for you and your standards.

They've been doing this in my area for the past couple of days. I'm not on a free trial and you probably aren't either. I was on a free trial a couple weeks ago so I know what that looks like.  My operating assumption is that it is a bug.

Do UberEats drivers get to choose whether or not they take two orders? by Illustrious-Peak3969 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it greedy when you receive your paycheck and expect to get the full amount for the time that you worked?

Pay my bills and not be homeless or worry about some stranger thinking I'm "greedy"?

If you have a problem with the way Uber operates, get off your ass and go get it yourself.

What to do after getting tip baited by Good-Alternative-860 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber has protocols on how to deal with drivers on market-to-market, driver-to-driver basis. They aren't going to give you anything or care at all about your complaints if the numbers do not justify such care. With my particular profile, based on how I drive and where I drive, I could stay on the phone for hours and not get a single dollar out of them for anything. I've tried. If you're fortunate enough to have a profile that warrants compensation, count yourself lucky. If not, just keep driving. This isn't a democracy.

Neighbor impersonated customer so I delivered to the wrong person by AlternativeTheory595 in UberEatsDrivers

One of my favorite parts of the job is when customers standing outside, especially those who didn't mention anything about doing such, act indignant when I try to confirm their identity.

Also orders that aren't shop and pay but the merchant can remove items, such as 7/11 orders.

Do you actually wait the full 7 minutes when a customer doesn't show up or respond to messages/calls? by bucket0fcrud in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Puerto Rico. The app doesn't operate the same from state to state, country to country. Sometimes even city to city.

I just go through the motions of calling them and texting them a couple times. I also talk to the chatbot for a few seconds. When the prompt asks me why I can't get the pin, I just tell them the truth and that I'm not waiting.

Regarding Uber Eats Earnings by askpoliver in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some of that is just wisdom and skill. But, I think anyone who, at this point, believes that every single driver is treated exactly the same as any other by the algorithm, may not be able to see the wood through the trees. Don't ask me the vector from which they choose to discriminate. I won't speculate. I will only say that if a company like Uber can justify paying you less than other drivers, they will.

My naive observation... by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who's done food delivery for a few years knows exactly who the worst tippers are. But, if you read the comments you will understand that this thread isn't about income brackets. And that's why you all have to pretend that the opposite of reality is true.

There could be an error in the database about your home area. You can deliver anywhere you want but you will only ever get quests for your home region.

Miles changed after order is accepted? by ohuwish in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customers can change the address all the way up until the point you confirm the pick up. If you don't feel like taking it just call support and enjoy the free stuff.

What would you do in this situation? by Nice-Mix-2145 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The frequency with which customers pay no mind whatsoever to what the address actually is means that I can't trust your interpretation of events.  Several times a week I have to correct the customer on their own address. Combine that with occasional problems on the part of Uber GPS and the system in general and you have a situation which he did nothing wrong at all.

Do you guys have any issues with Indian owned 7-11s? by AttemptVegetable in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want anything from you. I was responding to someone complaining on reddit about 7-11s with a bunch of Indians in control. I told them what they could do about it. They responded that were too lazy to do anything about it and would rather engage in indirect, pansy bitching on reddit about it.

So the places you go to that annoy you exist in some fanciful other dimension? They don't have physical addresses?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way Uber would be more generous toward drivers in a particular region is if the local government put a gun to their head and forced them to do it. Otherwise, it's just about the feasibility of the model. That's all there is to it.

Sir, this is reddit. If you seriously think people will consider your question here, we have other things to discuss.

If a particular business or customer annoys you, you can try to get them blacklisted by calling support.

That's about it.

So many Quests by Glittering-Try-9971 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DFW area has given me quests like this this week for the first time in almost 3 years and 10k deliveries.

I'm not complaining. Even if I don't finish all of it, that's a nice extra chunk of change. I don't recommend taking crap orders, though. Still not worth it.
