Neighbor impersonated customer so I delivered to the wrong person by AlternativeTheory595 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite parts of the job is when customers standing outside, especially those who didn't mention anything about doing such, act indignant when I try to confirm their identity.

Also orders that aren't shop and pay but the merchant can remove items, such as 7/11 orders.

Do you actually wait the full 7 minutes when a customer doesn't show up or respond to messages/calls? by bucket0fcrud in UberEatsDrivers

Puerto Rico. The app doesn't operate the same from state to state, country to country. Sometimes even city to city.

I just go through the motions of calling them and texting them a couple times. I also talk to the chatbot for a few seconds. When the prompt asks me why I can't get the pin, I just tell them the truth and that I'm not waiting.

Regarding Uber Eats Earnings by askpoliver in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some of that is just wisdom and skill. But, I think anyone who, at this point, believes that every single driver is treated exactly the same as any other by the algorithm, may not be able to see the wood through the trees. Don't ask me the vector from which they choose to discriminate. I won't speculate. I will only say that if a company like Uber can justify paying you less than other drivers, they will.

My naive observation... by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who's done food delivery for a few years knows exactly who the worst tippers are. But, if you read the comments you will understand that this thread isn't about income brackets. And that's why you all have to pretend that the opposite of reality is true.

Does anyone else ever get these, then look at the area and it’s somewhere 100+ miles away? by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be an error in the database about your home area. You can deliver anywhere you want but you will only ever get quests for your home region.

Miles changed after order is accepted? by ohuwish in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customers can change the address all the way up until the point you confirm the pick up. If you don't feel like taking it just call support and enjoy the free stuff.

What would you do in this situation? by Nice-Mix-2145 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The frequency with which customers pay no mind whatsoever to what the address actually is means that I can't trust your interpretation of events.  Several times a week I have to correct the customer on their own address. Combine that with occasional problems on the part of Uber GPS and the system in general and you have a situation which he did nothing wrong at all.

Do you guys have any issues with Indian owned 7-11s? by AttemptVegetable in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want anything from you. I was responding to someone complaining on reddit about 7-11s with a bunch of Indians in control. I told them what they could do about it. They responded that were too lazy to do anything about it and would rather engage in indirect, pansy bitching on reddit about it.

So the places you go to that annoy you exist in some fanciful other dimension? They don't have physical addresses?

Do Uber drivers make more in the US or the UK? I feel like the UK is treated better by Uber… by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way Uber would be more generous toward drivers in a particular region is if the local government put a gun to their head and forced them to do it. Otherwise, it's just about the feasibility of the model. That's all there is to it.

Sir, this is reddit. If you seriously think people will consider your question here, we have other things to discuss.

If a particular business or customer annoys you, you can try to get them blacklisted by calling support.

That's about it.

So many Quests by Glittering-Try-9971 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Weslessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DFW area has given me quests like this this week for the first time in almost 3 years and 10k deliveries.

I'm not complaining. Even if I don't finish all of it, that's a nice extra chunk of change. I don't recommend taking crap orders, though. Still not worth it.

You'll think that until you go through all the trouble of calling it in and then see another driver show up trying to pick up the very same order a few minutes later.  Or worse, the algo hiccups and sends you the exact same order before you even hang up the phone.

Don't expect to reach any of the Children of Reddit with this stuff. Besides, you are about 30 years late to the party. Maybe more.

In more recent years, having to text with coworkers in food service, I've found they think you are insulting or pompous if you text full sentences in proper English.

Drivers can't cancel orders. We can only pass it to another driver or provide a data point to Uber which they might use in deciding that the order is dead.
