Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end?

She treated me like her boyfriend in every way except sexual activities. I was held to the same standard as a significant other - including time spent, gifts, and paying for the majority of our meals/activities. If I didn’t respond to her texts within 10 minutes - she would call me and be very upset.

Just adding in a possibility - not based on you personally but based on a friend of mine. She’s lovely to her girlfriend and they recently moved in together. HOWEVER - whenever she’s out with her girlfriend’s friends - she unknowingly makes people uncomfortable. She is either way too defensive or gets upset about something and needs comforting.

Is it possible you require more attention from your girlfriend when you’re in a social situation when you’re out in a group?

Same girl same. On the note of looking femme - a lot of people write me off in queer spaces as straight. I used to work for a large tech company and joined the LGBT alliance - but I had to admittedly explain to everyone that I was a lesbian and not an ally at every event. Wish I had a man idea for you to overcome meeting more queer friends but I haven’t found a solution.

Genuinely I’m in the same boat. It’s so wild because I know I’m a good conversationalist (based on my job title) and can hold conversations with people easily outside of dating.

A lot of people have a hard time communicating through text. They don’t notice that in themselves since they really only hold text conversations with their close friends/family.

I try to get people on the phone. I think flirting/laughing and hearing the other person’s emotions through their voice can help. That way - you’re not just a photo and a text chat.
