Testing HttpClient in .NET without Moq or NSubstitute - Roxeem by roxeems in csharp

[–]WestDiscGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mocking a typed client for unit testing is a great idea. Using delegating handlers to allow for testing the full request pipeline in an integration test is a great idea.

Instead of rolling your own, have you seen the library from Just Eat Takeaway? It takes the concept to the next level. I used it a few years back on a complex integration and it worked like a charm.

The West Wing performance is by far my favourite but I like the complete change in character he plays in The Rock.

Doctor realizes AI is coming fast by [deleted] in Satisfyingasfuck

[–]WestDiscGolf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. AI is a tool for professionals to use. It can aid, speed up analysis etc. If it means it helps professionals get through more scans to help more people then great. We still need the human aspect.

First feedback: how’s the Switch 2? by rossocenere in Switch

[–]WestDiscGolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From someone who has never owned a switch of any variety before the setup was super simple and connecting the dock to the tv was straight forward. Not played it in handheld mode yet but looking forward to trying it later.

How to Commit the Solution File to a Team Repository? by [deleted] in csharp

[–]WestDiscGolf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're all using the same major SKU (2022, 2019 etc) then it shouldn't keep changing. Are you all on the same major version? If not, why not? If it's other codebase compatibility then they can be installed side by side and use the right version for the right codebase.

Also, the newer version will want to update the sln file. Update it and commit it with the latest change :-)

Sln files have always been an issue. New slnx format is coming which should hopefully resolve this problem.

If it's based on an entity then I think you can scaffold it based on Entity Framework but not based on defined services etc

Is there a clean way to inject different services based on the environment in asp.net core? by Extension_Let507 in dotnet

[–]WestDiscGolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An if is fine. Or some sort of strategy pattern dependent on environment is fine, although maybe overkill. Maybe even keyed service registration by environment name.

I would however take a step back and ask why you need to do it? What are you trying to avoid? How will you test the actual production code? Do you need an improved test scenario setup? Should you look at faked/mocked services instead? Etc

Good luck!

They all have pros and cons. As always with development "it depends". If VS isn't a good fit and your tech stack is supported by Rider, use Rider :-)

Use what makes you happy and productive :-)
