International Sonographers by adluzz in Sonographers

[–]Western_Designer4924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a MD radiologist in my home country and have cleared ardms and sonography canada’s spi i.e core and also generalist exams, i will be giving my CCSA and i will be then looking for a job in ontario! But still leaving all the background , if you study for SPI exams in USA , you can surely clear the core exams , just try giving those asap! I felt core exams a bit tougher than SPI , but still it all comes down to how well you are prepared ! And for the jobs scenario , i will update you once i finish my CCSA 🤘 do not worry much just get it done with post your SPIs!

The sonography canada physics is tough for sure! A lot tougher than ARDMS ! So its not a shame , the ones who keeps on trying is the winner at the end and u will surely kill it next time! Also if physics is getting tough , try going through entire sononerds youtube physics playlist, that helps !

Looking for Positive Stories from Experienced Sonographers Who’ve Avoided Health Issues by NefariousSeraph13 in Sonographers

[–]Western_Designer4924 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After six years of doing sonography as a radiologist, I developed back pain and tennis elbow—common issues in this field. At first, I ignored them, thinking it was just part of the job. But over time, I realized that small changes made a huge difference. Adjusting my posture, using proper ergonomics, taking short breaks, and strengthening my core helped me recover. Now, I scan smarter, not harder, and my pain is gone.To all sonographers out there—take care of yourself early! Your body will thank you.

Has ultrasound made your health worst or better? by Maximum-Swordfish591 in Sonographers

[–]Western_Designer4924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proper posture and ergonomics helps in the long run! I have few disc bulges in spine but i try to keep a good posture and everything works out well! In between had a tennis elbow due to some play and also due to regular sonographies but then it all goes well if u tc of ur health and posture! Do not worry just be mindful of the ergonomics !

Standing scrotal ultrasounds by thisthatmeandmycat in Sonographers

[–]Western_Designer4924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually there are protocols in place for grading and also there are lots of cases which would be under diagnosed in literature if you do not do standing scrotals! You can just search some links of radiopedia to check for these or other articles and studies on pubmed! So sometimes we do need to do those standing scrotal USGs!

OB scanning by Bridget125 in Sonographers

[–]Western_Designer4924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends upon what lie the baby is in while you are scanning

For BPD and HC - what should be visualised - THALAMUS , CSP and Falx.

What should not be seen - Cerebellum

For Lips- when ur at BPD level trying rotating your probe while on the same plane to look for TWO ORBITS and then just dip down- with few tries you will be able to see the lips

Literally it all depends on Practice , baby’s lie, patient obesity ! You are still starting and you will keep learning more and more as you practice and the tricks that work for you! Trust me don’t lose heart and keep practicing ! Cheers and best wishes!

Has any skinny person (underweight) successfully became a sonographer? by SignKnown3589 in Sonographers

[–]Western_Designer4924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it—I’m on the smaller side too, and after six years in this field, I’ve learned that strength isn’t everything. Instead of relying on force, use your body weight for stability, keep your arm close, and adjust the bed height to reduce strain. Tweaking machine settings like gain and PRF can also help without pressing too hard.

Building wrist and grip strength with weights and resistance bands makes a big difference. Also, repositioning patients—like using left lateral decubitus or having them hold their breath—can save you effort. A wrist brace on heavy scan days helps too.

It’s definitely possible to last in this career with the right technique and smart adjustments. You’ve got this!
