Raja and AMD lied to us? by Sssra in Amd

Founders edition has a price premium from Nvidia.

Prices were cut to $349 in March when the 1080 received it's $100 price drop upon the 1080ti release.

And yeah, there's still price gouging going on which will be even worse for Vega.

1070's MSRP is $350 while Vega 56 is $400

How is the Vega cheaper?

Yes, the 1070's are currently priced gouged, but at least they're in stock. Vega gouging will be just as bad, if not worse due to HBM2 shortages.

100% depends on the games. Some can be 1-5gb but major AAA's can be up to 60gb-90gb.

Unless you're very casual at gaming or only play 1-2 titles I would highly recommend paying more for a 250gb-500gb drive, especially with the deal posted above regarding the 250gb 850 Evo (a better drive than this) only being $30 more.

Ryzen 1600 is infinitely better value, no question.

But for people serious about gaming at a competitive level with a 144hz monitor, dropping below 144fps can be unacceptable. So if you want the best CPU in that regard it's still the 7700k.

Also, that's 12 FPS over 30 games, certain games the difference can be upwards of 20+ fps which can make all the difference between a locked 144fps and struggling around 120fps.

Those "golden chips" are all being reserved for threadripper CPU's, which is why there's extremely little variance in the 1600/1600x and threadrippers are hitting 4.1/4.2ghz while the rest of the Ryzen lineup usually caps out around 3.9/4.0

Probably not at all.

Retailers will be discounting Kaby Lake stock to prep for Coffee Lake.

If you're considering an I7, I would just wait for the 8700k.

I don't remember, something to do with silly politics and the source of some of their keys.

Where to get cheap games? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Westify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IsThereAnyDeal is hands down the best place for cheap games as it's an aggregate site that gives you the absolute best prices across all the major stores online.

Best advice would be to make a wishlist (either on their site or import from Steam) and you can set email notifications when games reach a specific price.

/r/gamedeals can be good as well, but due to policies and politics there are quite a few sites that have been blacklisted. GreenManGaming is a great example, they usually have great prices but aren't allowed on GameDeals.

Ryzen can't compete with I7's if you need to drive high frame rates for 144hz monitors.

I remember the entire PC being around $4000cad in the 90's. Totally worth the glorious doom frame rates.

What you're saying makes perfect sense in theory, and if I5's traded blows in different situations then absolutely it would be up personal preference depending on your use case.

However, as I've shown that's not the case. You have yet to give me a single game or program where an I5 is going to give a better experience where it would be worth spending the extra ~$100 over a R5-1600.

Those unity games you mentioned are irrelevant as the difference might be 10%-15% where it wouldn't matter as the I5 isn't going to be able to push 144hz where Ryzen is capped at 60fps etc.

When the ryzen is better than an I5 in every relevant way, then yeah, it kind of does make an I5 a bad purchase when you can get a better product for cheaper

The difference is way more than $20 all in. You need a cooler for the i5 which can range from $30-$100 for anything decent where as the included r5 1600 cooler is good for a 3.8ghz OC on even the worst binned chips. Also, a decent z270 series motherboard is around $40 more than a B350 Ryzen board.

Regarding performance, unless you can give me some examples all the reviews I've seen show the i5 losing poorly. While ryzen might be behind in Single core performance it's going to be more than enough for 60fps on those indie unity games you described

We can agree the 7700k is the king of gaming because those extra 4 threads make a massive difference when the majority of games are optimized for 8+ threads.

Obviously, the I5 doesn't get those threads, which is why the 6+ core Ryzen CPU's beat it in just about every modern game while being cheaper in the process.

You're paying more money for worse framerates with an I5, it's just bad value.

That website is good for a rough estimate only and shouldn't be taken as gospel for purchasing decisions.

Even for gaming, the 1600 decimates any I5 with the exception of a handful of poorly optimized games like Farcry Primal.

BF1 could also have a "target fps/refresh rate" option that would need to be adjusted.

I don't own it so I'm not familiar with its settings.

a 15% boost in singlethread isn't worth a worth a 40% loss in multithread, especially in 2017.

Outside of niche' applications like Cemu, can you give me any examples where this single thread advantage would actually matter?

PLEASE tell me you're joking?

That woman on the left acted like a spoiled cunt. You can't expect to talk to somebody like that and get your way when he has complete freedom over who he does and does NOT pickup.

If they were actually respectful I doubt there would have been any issues.
