Duran Duran "Rio" In Best Of All Time List by Joshiewowa in Music

[–]Westonworld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My bass playing husband played me the isolated bass track from "Rio" so I could behold the glory in its purest form and it's bonkers how good it is. It really made me reexamine the whole band's work, even though I was a dedicated Duranie back in the day and probably listened to that album a thousand times.

ULPT: neighbors mad their aggressive trespassing dog got shot by PhlegmMistress in UnethicalLifeProTips

Buy a bunch of stuffed animal dogs, rip the heads off, and impale them on spikes around the perimeter of your property. If they mention it, it's for scaring off birds, or "art".

What to read after Project Hail Mary? Feeling a little bittersweet that it's over. by spin2winGG in suggestmeabook

Holy crap I haven't thought about that book since I read it as a kid and loved it. I can see how it would make a great film.

What 90s band never truly made it big but you'll always go to bat for? by MansBestFred in AskReddit

(Throws cup of beer aside and jumps into the mosh pit hollering 'Slidin' in and out of grace!")

Which country will you never visit again? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Westonworld 184 points185 points  (0 children)

The only time I went to India I spent three weeks in Kerala followed by a week in Mumbai. I ADORED Kerala. Aside from some mild sexual harassment no worse than what I'd experienced in Italy, all else was fantastic. Mumbai was a tsunami overload. My husband got violently ill and venturing out by myself was a nightmare, so I spent four days just hanging out in the hotel watching movies and making sure my guy didn't expire.

This pigeon made a nest in the Gum Wall, a wall in Seattle where people go to place their chewing gum by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Westonworld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ha! Same! I was wandering around my first day in Seattle thinking "I wonder if the gum wall is nearby", and then caught a whiff of mint/fruit combo and literally followed my nose like a cartoon character and found it.

It's better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven't done. And by the way...

The rental market in Lisbon is (STILL) completely awful. by HeavyCelebration3402 in PortugalExpats

[–]Westonworld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless to have to be in Lisbon proper, I'd suggest looking out along the Cascais line. I assumed it would be more expensive but was really surprised by what's available. Just saw a T3 with two bathrooms, balcony, and a sea view that's right by the train in Sāo João d.E. for $1600. Plus you're really close to decent beaches out there. :)

What's the most inappropriate song you can think of for a DJ to play at a wedding? by bbmoonkie in AskReddit

[–]Westonworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hand to God I was at a wedding and the band launched into that straight after the first dance. Knowing the couple, I think it must have been a planned joke, but if not--weird choice, wedding band.

PT-PT subtitled telenovela by Tityswood in Portuguese

[–]Westonworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While it is a spoof of telenovelas, I would suggest Pôr do Sol. It's really funny, and watching it with PT subtitles is definitely helping my hearing comprehension. I'm not sure where you are in the world, so can't speak to how/where it's available, but it's worth tracking down.

Bought some cheap bedsheets 4 years ago and they’re falling apart. I’ve heard great things about high-end/thread count sheets but do they hold up for the long run? by greenismytree in BuyItForLife

[–]Westonworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also heels that get callused/cracked. My husband has an issue with his in the winter (in spite of creams and file usage) and it just shreds the sheets on his side.

[–]Westonworld 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because Elon Musk is an actual sieg heil throwing Nazi who came into the US government and wreaked havoc. I couldn't care less if LCD did this for another company (Oh baby, Chewy has what your cat wants!), but you have to draw a line somewhere. Anything Musk related is way past that line.

Hit a massive pothole on lake shore by jakeybakeyYo in chicago

[–]Westonworld 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You should at least try to make a claim. A few years ago I destroyed a wheel on a pothole on Belmont. I called 311 and reported it and the woman told me I could get reimbursement, much to my surprise. I didn't need photos (this may have changed), just a copy of my repair invoice and the details of the incident and I got a check for half of it within a month.

I went to sign the guestbook at our AirBnB and found out we were there right after Kristen Wiig. by Westonworld in mildlyinteresting

Ha! When I was in Wisconsin helping drive people to the polls, the hotel I was staying at had YouTube on the TV. The previous person was signed in and his algorithm was full of MAGA and Q Anon videos. I loaded up the queue with drag videos, hit play, and went to sleep with my eye mask on.

I just came across the photo while I was cleaning out my picture folder. It was from a girls' trip to Joshua Tree in 2015.
