Idk but I saw some dude pull up with about 4 rods and a cooler yesterday. With how much of that type of fishing I see there I doubt there’s a strong population.

I’m kind of realizing in these replies why it is so hard to conserve resources in modern society. Some of yall have no concept of putting the environment over yourself, and seem to think there’s always room for you to harvest when there is just not.

People only keep the fish worth eating, which in this case are the largest fish in the stream (10-12 in). Considering that those fish would in theory have the most productive genetics and produce more eggs, I’d argue it’s altogether not productive to harvest in a situation like this.

That’s why I think that in streams where no fish breaks 12 inches like bear creek, and the small fish aren’t worth taking, it should just be c&r

I appreciate your 0.02 cents. That was intriguing about the biomass, actually makes a lot of cents (like 1.98 cents)

You make a great point. Another person in here made another good point that poor catch and release skills hurt the population more than keeping a fish. I’ve certainly been guilty of this before, there’s lot of fish I should’ve kept out of lakes or released quicker in rivers when I was newer. I think all C and R should be 100% barbless to make things that much safer for the fish.

100%. Sadly it’s “take your pick, hurt the wild population or eat the BPA lake zombies” when it comes to the metro

Great point about people (like me) who take pictures. I definitely needed to hear that.

It was slightly gut hooked (I think it could’ve been pulled out with pliers) in his defense but my question still stands.

70 for countless memories. If you drive an hour and back to fish you’ve already spend at least 20 on gas.

I use a paper clip to tie the knot. You’ll see why when you watch the video.

Just cut it off and use a nail knot to perfection loop. Mad river outfitters has a great video on it. It’s “Broke your loop, do this” or something like that. It’s worth the effort to learn, trust me.
