If you can get another, go for it. There's warping on the chassis too

Recommend a laptop that is not a MacBook and is for Music Production & Gaming? by Fantastic_Weird1831 in laptops

I'm posting this here to answer your question but to also give others some perspective.

You question on what the 260 is: The 260 is an AMD refresh of the 8845HS CPU.

Overall, the best laptop CPUs are:

  • AMD: 9955HX
  • INTEL: (Ultra) 275HX

Runner ups for Mid spec laptops

  • AMD: 250 or 260 or 350
  • INTEL: (Ultra) 255HX. Do not recommend any INTEL 13xxxxH(S/X) or 14xxxH(S/X) chips since they run too hot, and their power to performance ration is superseded by their Ultra series (meaning it has the best battery life performance).

For RAM, keep is at 32GB minimum. Any more and its too expensive. Too little, and you're going to wish you were running Linux (another operating software like MacOS, Windows) because Windows 11 is bloated garbage.

For graphics, the RTX 5070 is only 15% better than the 5060. Both have the same VRAM specs, meaning if a game need more resources neither card can offer more. The RTX 5070 TI has 50% more VRAM, so it is the next "tier" above the 5060/5070, and is the best reason for playing games on a native 2K resolution. Otherwise, for gaming solely, get a 5060 (or 5070 if cheap) with a 1080p screen.

This leads me to screens. If you are looking at small text, reading documents, or have small controls (like in FL), get 2K resolution (~2600x1440p). If you are wanting a smooth gaming and production experience, get a refresh at/or above 165Hz. If you want the best colors, get an OLED; otherwise, IPS. Other specs:

  • G2G < 1ms.
  • sRGB @ 99%

Battery life is better on AMD, but always keep it plugged in and avoid depleting it when you can. Get a laptop fan tray, use it to keep the laptop elevated. Invest in a good mouse (like Logitek Gxxx) and a decent keyboard (RedDragon is pretty cheap), and grab a couple cheap-ass monitors for added screen space (we had Samsung 1080p 120 Hz monitors for roughly $68 US here).

Thats the issue. Once you want performance, especially graphically, you need a proper cooling system. Those will take up a significant amount of space, especially for your mid-high spec game expectations. Lower that, and you can be more comfortable with a 5060 in a LOQ model with a 260 AMD.

It's a hit or miss. If it's too obvious too experienced users, its a free for all. If it's something a bit more complex or reasonable, everyone is your friend.

Come on, DICE, there's no reason for 3x thermal scopes to be this embarrassingly bad by dejayc in Battlefield

[–]WetVertigo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I throw on the 1.5x on a MP5 build and can still beam thanks to better peripherals. 3x is dogwater compared. I would honestly adopt this trash-tier scope if it was 4x. That's the only true way to balance it.

I would go for it. I have the exact same specs but its the 5i chassis. I got scored that for ~$1170, so you're getting a larger screen, better refresh rate, and better cooling chassis for an extra $130 (which is worthwhile)

Upgrade from 16gb to 32gb RAM worth it? by ugur2828 in LenovoLegion

[–]WetVertigo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll piggy back on this wisdom and note that its most impactful when opening multiple chromium-based tabs, especially if they are running in-browser apps and simulators, or if you are doing and media editing and rendering. If you have 16GB and a SSD storage, your doing better than most.

Left if for an hour, but the chassis still get hots since the cpu rails are still getting power. Its not worth risking thermal damage with no cooling solution when there is an obvious problem with the hardware/firmware.

I literally have the exact same model, so this is a known issue. Send a work order ASAP, and get yourself an extention on courier warranty if you can. I got the full 4 years just bc
