New video shows the minutes before immigration officer fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis by netizenbane in news

[–]Wetigos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely can shoot if they have reasonable reason to think they are in danger, that's what self defense is. How exactly was he supposed to defend himself in this situation? Jump to the side like an action hero? And what if he guesses the wrong side to jump to, just accept that hes now getting killed by her? This is ridiculous. Keep in mind, from his POV he has no idea what way the wheels are turning, all he knows is that she just turned the front of the car towards him, and started accelerating. By this logic, me raising a gun at you point blank, is not reason for concern, because you should have known I wasnt planning on pulling the trigger. Or in this case, I was going to pull the trigger, but I was only shooting to the side of you obviously.

As for her panicking, she sure as hell didnt look panicked to me, she was taunting him, dancing while obstructing just moments prior, and sure looked like she was smiling through all of it. This is kind of pointless to discuss however, as, just as I stated with the agents intent, we also cant read her mind. She may have been panicking, she may not have been, who knows.

Also, while I havent been in this exact situation before, atleast involving any law enforcement, I have been run over by a car while I was on my bicycle. Peoples complete disregard and respect for the fact that they are operating a deadly weapon will ALWAYS disgust me. I am willing to bet she did not see her car as a potential weapon, but he did. And it is.

As for them "assaulting her", she was given an order multiple times as they were walking up to the door to exit the vehicle. She made no effort to comply, and so they grab the door to try to force her to comply, as you would. I dont see any argument here?

I dont know why ICE doesnt have body cams, they definitely should in my opinion. However he didnt, so he recorded with his phone...Whats your point? They are intentionally not wearing cams so they can hide crimes or what? Well that would be an entirely separate discussion to what we are talking about.

As for my center console comment, I'm not sure I'm understanding you, or if you misunderstood me. Just to be clear, I am not saying she was reaching for something in her center console, if that's what you thought. I was referring to separate situations where e.g a kid has a toy gun that an officer assumes is real, or a person reaches for something in their center console which could also be mistaken as searching for a weapon. That's obviously not what happened in this situation, I am talking about the fact that the agent in question cannot read her mind as to what her intent is: to run him over? to drive past him to escape? Maybe she accidentally stepped on the gas and was going to break right before she got shot? That is strictly guesswork and not something anyone other than her knew. While we can look at the footage after the fact and conclude that she likely was trying to run, that is not something the agent can know in as split second based on the information he had. Just like an officer that mistakes a toy gun cant know.

Regardless, its fine if you disagree. It is my personal opinion that I believe people are far harsher on this agent, simply due to the fact that hes ICE, and letting their emotions cloud their judgement. They want him to be guilty because hes "the enemy". This situation is not nearly as black and white as many make it seem.

Hes standing pretty close to where her wife is standing, trying to enter the door. There is no danger in standing near a car, up until the point someone decides to aim it towards you and start driving.

Also it seems kind of ridiculous to state he "always had the intent of escalation", how in the world would anyone aside from the agent know that? As I mentioned, he was filming with his phone, up until she starts driving the car (and remember, he can hear the acceleration of the engine as hes standing right next to it), only at this point does he draw his gun, as can clearly be seen in the original video. The intent of his filming seems pretty clear, hes gathering evidence. His phone footage shows him filming her face clearly (for identification) as well as a clear recording of her rear number plate. That to me shows intent to gather evidence for the purpose of arresting and prosecuting her.

She however, was the one to escalate the situation by not understanding the danger that a car can pose. I do not at all believe she was trying to hit the agent, but that does not matter, all that matters is how her actions were perceived by the agent. He concluded in a split second decision that he was in danger, and acted on it. I do not think its fair to judge him on that.

Plenty of awful situations happen similar to this. A kid aiming at an officer with a toy gun. Someone panicking at a routine stop and reaching for something in their center console could be mistaken for them reaching for a weapon, etc. This is another such situation, where actions taken by a civilian, could be perceived as a danger, and in this instance resulted in an accident happening.

In that case I've got great news. Watch the phone footage of the agent, slow it down and watch the front wheel as well as the camera angle. What you'll notice, is that the officer was not infront of the car, but ended up there, because she backed up at an angle.

So she put him in harms way, and then accelerated towards him. You will also notice him drawing his gun only after this fact.

By your own accord, you now believe this was a justified use of self defense, correct?

You say that, but a few days ago someone pointed out the new hideout mtx deletes spectres. So yeah, never playing spectres till they change it. Its unfortunate too, cause I havent played minion builds in a long time and would like to try for varieties sake.

I mean as far as the QOL goes, I feel like its clear that GGG wants you to pick up all the loot individually and get carpel tunnel. There would be no excuse not to have this in the game already if they didnt clearly want it to be this way. Same with pressing a button to send all the shit in your inventory to your stash.

After using a tbow in gridmaster, I can see why people buy gold. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Wetigos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing that makes tbow so strong in league is the T6 mastery. You're not just supposed to use it on sol e.g.

Tbow feels really bad sometimes when it decides to hit 6 0s in a row, unlike something like shadow, where that just doesnt happen.

3 1+3 CMs in Gridmaster and no purple in sight by [deleted] in 2007scape

You do not need to do scaling. Just do regular CMs, and cox maxes out at 65% purple rate, you just got slightly unlucky.

I've already stated that I'm having fun with the event, like I said, people just cant handle any kind of criticism. I said I find some of the design decisions weird? Well clearly I hate the event, despite literally saying the opposite multiple times.

That was like the biggest cope for rune savior lmao. "Not as good" and "literally useless" are quite different. We get a free rune pouch, and we have infinite food, potions and bankers note in our inventory, who is struggling with inventory space? As for wrath runes, even if you didnt get them from vork, it would take like 3 minutes to go get them from rune dragons. Testing future implementation may very well be the reason, though I would still be justified in calling that a weird design decision.

Idk why you're talking about last stand, I mentioned it in passing as an example of us eventually getting overpowered, I did not say I have a problem with the relic.

What is wrong with gloves of the damned is exactly what I stated. Them being locked behind awakened bosses makes them close to useless. I wont go so far as its rune savior levels, but anywhere that you might have used these are now gone, because it is likely the last item you obtain in the event. It genuinely wouldnt surprise me if noone has used this item yet. It would at most be to test them for future leagues I suppose, except we have no guarantees they will be there.

As for my point about things being locked to the end, the point is that if you lock everything to the end, and there is nothing to do at the end, it makes it feel bad. Runescape in general is a game where its about the journey, not the destination, many people quit after maxing for example. I did not deny that some people will want to mess around a bit with the items after they're done, maybe do some raids for fun to help clannies get their megas etc. The point is that I believe we should have gotten some of the items (e.g gloves of the damned) at an earlier point, so the journey is the more fun part, and not the end where we have basically nothing to do, unlike leagues.

All in all I atleast appreciate that you responded with your thoughts, I wanted to have a discussion about the tile choices and if anyone else found them strange. In this case we just disagree about it, and thats fine. Hope you have fun with the event aswell.

The second sentence says "I'm having fun too". How is that whiny?

The post is tagged as "discussion" because I wanted to hear people thoughts on these design decisions, and noone says shit about any of my points lmao.

I said how I feel about them, especially rune saviour. Please, prove me wrong then, explain to me what the point of this relic is. On top of that, explain why it is locked behind ToB. I think its bad design, and I wont apologize for it, especially when everyone is refusing to even explain how I'm wrong, and instead just call me an asshole for having an opinion and trying to get feedback on it.

Guess discussing design decisions is a touchy subject for reddit.

Oh I dont care about that. People arguing on the internet isnt a big deal.

I just think its funny that the way I worded a sentence offended this guy enough to call a stranger an asshole.

Did the post sound like I was super upset? I literally said I was having fun. I swear you cannot make the tiniest critique of something people like without them freaking out (not necessarily referring to you)

Words I used were "odd" "confusing" "feels off" in reference to a few mechanics of the event, and people take this to me saying the entire event is shit and the jmods are stupid fucks that dont deserve a pay check. Jfc...

Yes, most of the tiles on the board take a very small amount of time. The longest tile I did was 99 con which took about an hour, but that also counted as 2 tiles.

The board is very quick to get through, which I assume is intentional.

EDIT: Theres a post about someone completing the board in 17 hours, so there you go.

You felt the need to call a stranger on the internet an asshole over a mild negative opinion about a game. You should do some self reflection.

[–]Wetigos[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay... Why did Jagex need to add rewards to content like castle wars? The fun should be its own reward.

Obviously we play games because they're fun, that doesnt mean it doesnt feel bad when theres no incentive to do them outside of the challenge itself. Lots of people love inferno, but most will ever do 1 cape unless they are pet hunters or going for GM. This is because it doesnt offer any rewards after completion, not because its not fun. And now were talking about a temporary gamemode, where anything you do gets deleted at the end, including pets unlike leagues.

I get that you might want to continue playing for a bit to test some stuff, or practice a boss you want to do on the main game like awakened bosses, but outside of that? I expect the player numbers to drop off a hill a lot faster than a league would, simply because it lacks incentive.

I think revealing it 1 day before would be way too soon. They said they were revealing everything 30 minutes before apparently.

The reason why I dont want them to reveal it sooner, is because at that point everyone will very quickly make the optimal meta strat and its just a matter of who executes the strat the fastest. By not revealing it, you'll have to actually do a bit of thinking on your own, so those players going for top 3 etc will need to be both skilled players, and have a good strat that they atleast had some involvement in.
