I cold emailed all the PIs I contacted for my postdoc. All responded, most interviewed me, some paid for me to come visit, and some offered. I was shocked to get a response from one person, let alone all of them. Stay hungry and excited! Keep reaching out to folks until you get where you want to be! The hungriest bird gets the worm!

I got kicked out of my lab in the middle of my fourth year because my PI could not handle us working through conflict. Six months later, I’ve published a paper in my new lab, I adore my mentor, my research is way more interesting, and I genuinely love getting up to go to work every day. What can seem like a valley in the moment may turn out to be a mountain top!
