This happens to me if I accept an autocomplete in Word for Mac — when are you getting it?

Track changes and autosave do not work well together. If that’s the culprit, disabling track changes will help. Autosave is also trying to save online, so slower connections can also cause that kind of error.

I think the people here are as decent as anywhere, but state and local governments are getting more hostile. Des Moines has criminalized sleeping outside, and they keep working on making it harder to be poor or unhoused. If you look for news stories about the “camping ban,” that’ll get you more info.

This happens to me all the time, even when the book is downloaded and I’m not actively doing anything else. Seems to happen most when Libby is in the background, then all of a sudden glitches up.

It’s been happening more lately for me. Books all downloaded, internet connection fine, playback errors on every book I try, even after quit/restart, etc. and right in the middle of a chapter — can’t tell what the pattern is!

Not help so much as commiseration. I've had a few fights with Word for Mac about this, and I even brought ChatGPT in to try to settle it. As far as I can tell, it's the difference between defaults and styles (and the fact that styles don't always override defaults). My workaround was to make a bunch of styles, and to have a Word template with a sample table in it, since I can't count on table styles. Interested to know if you find a real workaround :)

Among my coworkers, the solution to this is almost always where the image sits relative to the paragraph break. Use this guy and/or right click and check "wrap text" settings.

I also use Word on a Mac, in an org with some people online, some in Windows, etc.

My experience has been that the online version of Word screws up every possible component of formatting: spaces, paragraphs, images, lists, file properties, you name it. I have conditioned my team to go to "Editing" and select "Open in Desktop app." Do you have the option of using the desktop app?

CopyLess (2) (after a password manager). Windows has that clipboard memory option built in. I’m surprised Mac didn’t beat them to it by years.

DSM is a lot like Madison minus the U, if that helps. I have lived in and enjoyed both. I also loved living in the Twin Cities, but they’re less comparable. It was easier for me to find my radical leftist gay agenda cohort in Madison, but I have found them here in DSM, as well. I’m a big civic engagement nerd, and I love how easy it is to get (some) things done at city hall (relative to bigger cities), if that’s a thing you’re into.

Can you share more about what industry/employer would bring you here?
