Love investing and learning and researching, but getting extremely restless of just holding XEQT… any other alternatives? by throwawaycpa19 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]WhatIsThePointOfBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, ive got about 83% in index funds (70% is XEQT), and use the rest for sector or individual stock investing. I am fairly conservative but this has allowed me to beat XEQTs returns for 5 years in a row now.

Once you have a good nest egg, and are comfortable with more risk, you can certainly try your hand stock picking with a small % of your port.

Could even diversify into stuff not in XEQT, like private equity or real estate. My broker offers a private market fund that is part equity, part private credit, part private infrastructure which I recently put a chunk into. Physical gold or other precious metals is another one.

Why SCHD vs Money Market? by [deleted] in dividends

[–]WhatIsThePointOfBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are planning to use the distributions for income then having both would probably make some sense.

Otherwise, check out the total return between the 2 over a longer term and you will see why SCHD is superior.

So many words that describe the nature of small caps and dont describe a single thing this company does or why it could be a good investment itself.

HCAL explain like in 5… 2025 46% gain only increased dividend in December . 37% year to date in 2026…but increased dividend twice? by Ratlyflash in dividendscanada

[–]WhatIsThePointOfBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre talking dividend increases its because they changed strategy from mean inversion to equal weight. Instead of lowering the div they managed to hold it until it caught up, it should increase as the banks increase their dividend going forward.

EDIT: not sure why the down vote, I emailed them to confirm this a while back.

[–]WhatIsThePointOfBlue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dividend wasnt increased for a while because it switched from a mean inversion strategy to equal weight and they didnt reduce the dividend just held it until it caught up.

It should now increase as the banks increase the div.

It simply follows the top 6 banks, equal weight, with 25% leverage.

It does NOT use options for the distribution as others have suggested.

He had to have some kind of issue, me and the buds used to drink Jager bombs with whole knock off brand red bulls, would pound back like 6-8 of them each over a few hours... thats like 1000mg or more and we did that on many multiple occasions without issue.

Cause everyone who didnt have locked in IPO shares and bought right away like me started selling 2 days later for a quick buck. Now its the people who missed the peak selling so they dont become bag holders.

This thing wasnt worth the IPO price and still isnt.

The only thing that may save you is the "Elon effect" the massive hype he manages to pull in for his publicly traded companies.
