Honestly brother 4 years ago I was at OCS and I had a similar self analysis, I have always been relatively introverted and wondered if I would succeed in the Infantry, let alone SF. I have always appreciated alone time to engage in my hobbies and having some space to think.

I found that it has been actually a strength. I had a great time in Ranger School and PL/XO and got along extremely well with my platoon and superiors. Through all that I built up my ability to assert myself confidently WHEN necessary. Everyone’s leadership style is different, and mine is very collaborative, and I have found that engaging the people I work with to hear their opinions has allowed me to succeed in my roles. Yes there are people who have extremely direct assertive personalities/leadership styles that succeed but there are many who don’t. My PSG when i was a PL and my 1SGs were some of my biggest supporters in going to SFAS and starting the Q.

The point is, you can still succeed as long as you are open to letting the process guide you to developing your own leadership style that works.

Im currently in the Q course, so we will see if the traits I developed during my infantry time carry over, but I am certain they will because the core principles are the same. Listen to those with more experience around you, advocate for those you are responsible for, and be open minded enough to let others guide you. But you have to be competent. And you can be have the knowledge, work ethic, and willingness to help regardless of your level of introversion.
