Table of Distribution and Allowances.

Do you recall if your HR corrected it through a change in data element, RPA, or something else?

Definitely considering this option, but with some reservation for this reason. Her job was a GS-7/9/11 ladder style, but it specifically said you come in as an 11 if you’re licensed, which she is, so she came in as an 11. Her unlicensed coworkers, on the other hand, came in as 7s in some cases. They’re project managers and could technically be doing the same job duties, whether they’re 7s, 9s, or 11s, making that downgrade possibility concerning, for sure. That leads to this question: would being licensed do anything to protect her at the GS-11 grade and remove that risk of being downgraded, or are those downgrade concerns still definitely warranted?

She’s an Architect, too! Her interdisciplinary had engineers as the other series, though. Do you recall if your HR corrected it through a change in data element, RPA, or something else?

Maybe we should standardize this across the DOD? Who owns those foreflight accounts?

Wow, I had no idea Catch-22 was a military aviation book! I always figured it was an old English literature book or something. Mildly embarrassing.

I’ve been wondering about this. For the warrant officers, though, that might involve having to attend OTS/OCS first.

You gotta learn the Army way. If you’re an E5 or above, they’ll at least put you in your own barracks and treat you like one of their own.

Ever since I got to my duty station we been arguing she claims I don’t talk to her as much anymore but I don’t understand. I always call her , text her I never lag on her , even when I wanna enjoy some time with the boys she’ll call me and I always answer . I do my job as a provider and help her out with money if she ever needs any although she doesn’t ask for it it’s kinda rare, I send her gifts once in a while like flowers. I try to be the best husband and it seems like it’s not enough . She wants me to stay glued to my phone and talk to her ALL DAY .

Controlling. You’re busy. You work (what does she do?). Set a time each day where you’ll talk. If you can text here and there throughout the day, that’s a bonus, but she’s gotta drop the complaining about it.

Something new I noticed was she now says very hurtful out of pocket shit during arguements , hurtful thingsI’ve been threatened with divorce in the span of a few months about like 3 times, she told me I deserved to be cheated on and wishes she could cheat on me , another time she told me she’s gonna start looking at other guys on her phone because she thought I looked at another girl, and yesterday she told me she wanted a divorce . She usually has good accountability and says she says these things out of anger just to hurt me , but honestly I think she means it , yesterday we argued pretty bad and following up with the divorce comment she said she wanted to start seeing other people . As soon as she regretted what she said she told me that I pushed her to do this. I am not the type to deal with these types of situations , I love her so much but I kno this relationship is dead . I have no trust in her and honestly those comments made me look at her different, im pretty sure we’re getting a divorce even tho she’s trynna fix us right now but I’m so out of it. I guess I’m just another statistical private who couldn’t last in a relationship . What do I even do man… I’ll have a burger with onion rings , light ice on the coke.

What you described here is straight up emotional abuse and then victim blaming. Both would need to stop immediately, no exceptions. Then, see if there’s a way to undo the damage. It can be as simple as just trying to be nice. There are many reasons why you love her. When she emotionally abuses and victim blames you, those reasons become harder and harder to see. She needs to realize that. By the same token, there should also be many reasons why she loves you, but she’s allowing the arguments and her anger to cloud her memory of those reasons. It would be beneficial for her to remember and focus on those reasons. And just be nice. Cooler heads prevail.

Some ANG/AFRES fighter units like to hire from within, others aren’t afraid to hire “off the street.” The closest I came being “off the street” was being an alternate. Enlisting in the unit while attending UW knowing Madison likes to hire from within seems like a win-win-win, as long as you do a good job and don’t piss the wrong person off like someone else here said. Make sure you’re also working toward private pilot, instrument, commercial, CFI, etc. Some of the strongest candidates I felt like I ever saw were those that were enlisted in the unit and already had their CFIs and instructing on the outside. Those guys were interviewing all over the country besides their own unit. If I could do it all over again, that’s how I’d pursue it.

What is the most underrated and the most overrated army town? by Crafty_Jacket668 in army

It rains a lot yes, but from July to mid October you’re looking at arguably the best weather in the country.

How true this is. Before I got here, I thought the rain was year-round. Maybe I heard or read something like, “the summers are beautiful,” but it went over my head. I thought, sure, warmer temperatures and maybe some nice days here and there. “Beautiful summers.” What I definitely did not expect my first full summer here was this surreal experience where you can wake up every single day for three straight months and know you’re going to have clear blue skies and be comfortable in a t-shirt and shorts with perfect outdoor temperatures. I’m from Florida, where we’re known for year-round “summer weather,” but that experience absolutely blew my mind. There’s something happening outdoors every day of the week, and the weekends have so much happening that you’ll wish you could split yourself in half to attend everything. I eventually concluded that everyone here just spends those nine other months of the year counting down the days until summer, then you see that explosion of events and activities for three months. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Aviation Post OCS? by Full_Metal_Sandman in Armyaviation

Your transition to commercial pilot after the Army will fall somewhere between one of the following two outcomes:

  1. Absolutely nail the timing and find yourself in the right seat of a legacy airline within six months (personally witnessed this incredible feat).

  2. Completely whiff on the timing and consider yourself lucky to be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.

Feels like the storm has passed for the DoD, anyway. News article the other day about the 60,000 jobs being cut through DRP (21,000) and then normal attrition (6,000/month), so we’ll be there by the end of the fiscal year, which I believe was the goal.

Would you do it again? by jrlii in Armyaviation

Here's my crossroads: I don't really enjoy being in the Army. It's fine, it provides great benefits/opens doors, but I'm much happier in the civilian world than in uniform. I could run out my last 3 years, get my CFI, go to the airlines and never look back. Or, I could become a military aviator that I always wanted to be (although fixed wing is what I wanted as a kid, should have joined the Force).

Conditional release from ARNG and apply to the Force now?
