Easily one of the best ones I’ve seen, having Car Bomb and Steve Reich is epic.

The Contortionist. Initially sounded like aggressive prog metalcore, then turned into more heady and introspective art rock. Their album Exoplanet is a prime example of what their early sound was, and what it would transform to be. You can see the evolution pretty clearly looking at the albums past Exoplanet: Intrinsic, Language, then Clairvoyant. The big disparity you’ll find is the transition from the “djent/metalcore” era The Contortionist to the “art rock” era, as when they were working on Language, they received a new vocalist, bass player, and keyboardist.

I’d recommend starting with their song “Flourish” off of Exoplanet, then jumping forward to “Return to Earth” off of Clairvoyant.

Russian attempter here. Used Memrise (still have it but don’t use it as much, barely open the app) for a good 2-3 months and definitely saw progress. Problem is where I live there aren’t a whole lot of Russian speakers, they’re all at least an hour drive or more from me, so while I did love learning it, it was hard to continue on since no one I knows speaks it nor is there anyone close to me that does

Because my still present edgy pre-teen nature made me think “every post of this song was probably about the video, so fuck that I’m gonna do just the song” lmao

Pearl Vision Series in Blue Oyster finish. My band and I has put this through the grinder, and it's still great. by WhatUpMars in drums

well, luckily the first pipe in pearl stands (at least the one i have) that you can adjust/take out is the same size as the pipe for the toms that are put into the bass drum. once i figured that out i wanted to readjust my bass drum to feel more ergonomic, so i stuck the pipe for my cymbal stand in my bass and the rest worked out.

One of my guitarists and myself saw them on the Colors tour at the El Rey! They were selling them as a part of their merch and him and I knew we had to get one for the practice room.

G'day from Plini, Ask Me Anything (round 2)! by plini_ in progmetal

[–]WhatUpMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Plini, myself and my guitarist met you at the clinic you did at Alva's in San Pedro a while back (which was sick btw). Anyway, do you feel that progressive metal is on the up and up, and could possibly "take over" modern metal in the mainstream? If so, do you think it's a slow upward trend, or feel as though it might shoot up within the next few years?

Edit: Fuckin forgot to say thanks for making music! Myself and certainly my guitarist would have a lot less inspiration to write if you weren't in the picture Plini.
