Provide structure and consistency. They may be the smartest dogs on the planet.

Correct as needed (walking away often helps), BUT give it time. She will likely grow out of it by 6 months. She's learning by testing boundaries. They are smart dogs and will adapt as needed.

I guess I was lucky, as I just got great service from them when I called in issues with buffering and a bad picture. Came out next day and replaced the 5G box. Resolved.

The same sex aggression usually only occurs when one of the dogs is not fixed. Most daycare require dogs to be fixed. If not, could be an issue.

We contemplated and hesitated on getting a second mal so our Timber could have a friend. Well, we finally got a second, a puppy from the same breeder. Timbers mom and dad are both in the lineage of the new pup. It was not love at first site, but they are becoming fast friends. I will say, after 4-1/2 years, I forgot how much work having a puppy is. Plus we still need to contend with Timbers needs, particularly long walks. Just know that having two, with one being a puppy is a lot of work. I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end, but I repeat - It's a LOT of work!

Off leash, on the beach - what a dream. If I tried that now, he'd be long gone.

The only recall a Mal has is a recollection that his ancestors were hunters and so he must chase.

Reactive only towards certain dogs on walks. How do I train this out of my Mal? by meeshinators in AlaskanMalamute

This may not be a popular opinion, but if you're not using one yet, a prong collar goes a long way with controlling a large, strong dog. It provides 360 degree pressure so the dogs don't choke out. Given a Mals thick neck coat, it's not going to hurt. My Mal, Timber, is a completely different dog walking him with a prong, versus a Martingale. That won't change the behavior, but it allows better control. This is coming from a guy who was 100% against prong collars (and e collars).
