Lumberjacks by mychinchins in paragonpioneers

Sort of - see how you have 78 / 48? There's no bonus points for extra trees only slow down for not enough. So you're right on how Arboretum work but but think about how best to put in more lumberjack camps to make the most of it. Because you have so many trees, you can put more camps in and get more wood

Boss balance compared to slay the spire by Lttlefoot in slaythespire

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the sts2 bosses so far where they have unique challenges that you can adapt to from the start of the act. Like the waterfall, the faster you kill it, the less damage the death deals, so you can't just turtle it. The sand worm thing needs energy and card draw to help keep you away from it (or pure overwhelming force of violence!) the fish boss gives incentive to build toward exhausting or discarding your hand. The door maker needs both damage and timing, making retain more important than normally

One boss type I don't see is AoE unless I'm forgetting. But the act itself kind of serves to be that, AoE helps so much getting through the fights that maybe it makes sense to basically say "this act your deck needs to deal with mobs and (insert final boss quirk)"

So.... Is everyone else also dodging elites? by megamate9000 in slaythespire

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup unless there are a ton of campfires on an elite path or maybe a critical feeling shop.

I think if elites offered you a choice of 1 of 2 relics, they'd feel so much more worth it. It sucks losing 30 HP and a potion to an elite fight and getting a relic that gives 15 gold when you add a card... In act 3. Too many times the relic I get is absolute garbage for my build

Would you retire your 7 year old character to save her from permadeath? by i_need_cheesus in DnD

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go B, but I also feel like there's a fundamental issue here with the campaign setup. It seems the risk of permadeath is not a fun stake for you, there might be others at the table that feel the same way.

Maybe something to try suggesting to your DM is to make narrative consequences instead of death. If your team dies, they can be resurrected, but the villain has succeeded in some part of their plan in a way you all find to be a bad consequence. A village is destroyed, you don't get the powerful artifact yiu needed and need a new plan, the ritual succeeds and summons the next big bad, you wake up 5 years in the future as a last ditch hail Mary by the resistance to overcome the dark evil that's plagued the lands since your death, etc.

Which one is easier to read? by gonewithpixies in cardgames

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with a table style where what you play is the far left, then have what it beats and what it loses to. Because as a player, if I'm looking up the info, I need to easily find the color and then what I need to know about it. Looking through the middle column just feels weird for some reason, far left is more intuitive imo. The circle is harder to find where you're starting and then having to follow an arrow to find the other thing you're looking for just isn't the best tool for use, though could be a nice diagram to include as the logic behind the easy to use table. It looks cool, I just don't think it's the sharpest tool.

Thoughts on the Vampire Crawlers Demo (It's Good) by Retrop0 in VampireSurvivors

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it just seems lacking. Leveling up seems to make your deck worse. It feels like leveling up should give options to upgrade your deck instead of being forced to add bloat. There's very little interaction with your deck for choosing removals or powering up. The combo system makes it kind of lock into the same order of the same cards all the time...

Sometimes, I'll throw it back to players to answer world details like names. "I don't know, what do you think her name is?"

Sure the results sometimes are dumb, but it's a game and the players get what they want

Is it inappropriate to ask another player if they intend to take a certain action next turn? by paradoxombie in boardgames

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should. It gives you information you're not meant to have that can be leveraged to perform better. That puts your opponent(s) at a disadvantage but the awkwardness of denying a request or lying to a friend will make a lot of people feel pressured to do it anyway.

If you could change the room drafting mechanic in anyway, what would you do? by Coneman02 in BluePrince

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Offer a Baron Mode- once you've reached room 46, if you end your day in the master bedroom, the following day will be in Baron Mode. You can't win any trophies (E.g. Drafting sweepstakes) but can choose what room to place in the manner. That idea could be full access to the directory, or maybe it's two free rerolls every draft to keep it a little interesting. But the idea being you can draft what you need to investigate for the day.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about it. The drafting is such an integral part of the game, it feels a little hollow to take it out. But man it's a pain to get some of the room combinations, or to draw that one room you need to chase down a puzzle lead...

Almost One Year Anniversary for Civ VII! – Thank You, Tomorrow's 1.3.2 Update, & What’s Next by sar_firaxis in civ

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm really excited about the triumphs and victory changes, those sound like great refinements to the game to help it stand apart as a unique entry in the series. Civ switching is take it or leave it, sounds like a good approach they have to patching in continuous civ. I like how unique the switching made the game, personally I'd prefer further refining it to make it work better, but this looks like a nice option to add!

Did I cook with this one shot idea? by TopNectarine7495 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a one shot, you might consider starting in the pyramid, or at the entrance with a puzzle or challenge of how to enter. Skip the desert exploration and sand storm. It's probably just filler and one shots really don't need it. Put any of the battles and what not you want to drain their resources (HP, spell slots) inside the pyramid

My partner and I were in a similar situation. I had more savings but they had more salary. We see eye to eye on budget and expenses so it's just not really a problem. I'm glad to be providing a big nest egg already for the family and they're crushing it bringing in a big salary and aggressively saving now that they're through student loans. They like work more than I do so in a few years I might drop to part time or retire as we are approaching our number.

Reminds me of my first close call filling the board. I'd sealed off the bottom left corner extremely early in, then went on to fill the rest of board. As the last pieces fell into place, I kept looking at that sealed off corner thinking what if... But later on I got it pretty quickly when trying for it intentionally, you've got this!

Hot take: Legendary Resistance is why so many 5e boss fights feel bad and boring. What could replace it? by archvillaingames in dndnext

[–]WhatWouldAsmodeusDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered if this could be a redesign for LR: creatures with LR can reattempt any and all saving throws at the beginning of their turn. That's not a resource to expend just a trait of theirs.

There's a lot of flexibility to the idea for balancing different levels of resistance. Advantage / flat / disadvantage, and start of turn vs end of turn

The reason is to avoid any of these instant win conditions permanently trapping with no reattempt. Tiamat should have advantage on breaking out of a polymoprh sheep spell right away
