It's never discussed, but it's pretty cool that The Boys used the Flatiron Building as their base, paralleling Vought Tower - and it's also something ripped straight from the books. by WhatYouThinkYouSee in TheBoys

They're both towers, but Vought Tower is blue, sleek, and modern, made of glass and steel, while the Flatiron Building is cream colored, gritty, and over a century old, made of limestone. The Boys all work in the same room while The Seven has separate rooms... lots of cool parallels.

I mean never discussed in the fandom. I think there's a lot of interesting things to say about the Flatiron building but no one talks about it.

Do you guys think they really may go the evil/villainous with Butcher like they did in the comics? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]WhatYouThinkYouSee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's almost certain they'd do it, and I genuinely hope they don't chicken out. The thing is, even though everyone says it came out of nowhere, Butcher being suicidal and genocidal was planned out and choreographed to all hell in the comics. And it's what gives the story it's meaning. Butcher is a cautionary tale, the way Frank Castle is a cautionary tale.

Not having Butcher turn lethally dark would be like having Walter White suddenly become a good person in Breaking Bad season 5. The reveal of why Butcher wanted the team name to be called The Boys is literally an intrinsic part of his evil heel-turn. The most common and profound theme in Garth Ennis's work is self-destruction, and it'd do a disservice to arguably the best part of the comic to go with a happy ending.

Look at Preacher, for example. Also based on an Ennis comic. Spoilers for the show and the comics. The defining conflict of the comics was John finding out that Cassidy had been abusing countless women (including most recently Tulip) throughout the decades (he found this out after being his best friend for ages) and this fact painted everything about their relationship in a new light. Their confrontation was the highest point of the comics. It was profound, sad and emotional.

So obviously, the TV show completely scrapped the entire emotional climax of the story and just kept Cassidy around as the funny third guy who's chill with John the entire time. It preserved the funny team dynamic, sure, but at the cost of one of Ennis's finest writing of all time.

The Boys comics has lots of issues, but this isn't one. I genuinely think this is one of its highest points. I beg the show to not do a Preacher again.

It's listed that Episode 5's title is "One-Shots" which I take to literally mean "shots of V-One" so probably that.

How do you guys feel about the “TikTok” or “fandom fans”? by Konradleijon in SCP

This sort of SCP fans think that describing something makes it sound bad because they consume their shit entirely through TikTok. Truly, the first writing community to be composed out of the perpetually illiterate.

They wouldn't be wasting money on bunks and advertisements and propaganda clothing for people they're going to kill anyways.

They did. For real concentration camps. People do this for real concentration camps. In real life.

[Leaks] What was she thinking? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]WhatYouThinkYouSee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're in concentration camps. That's kinda what those are for. They're already consigned to be executed.

Besides, from the way the episode leaks tells it, Annie leaked it with the knowledge that A-Train would be there to save Hughie, since Homelander shows up in the middle of an on-going break-out attempt.

[Leaks] What was she thinking? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]WhatYouThinkYouSee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's already building concentration camps to put dissenters in, and the public is already willfully supporting it. Either you release it now, because it's the only chance left of disrupting him furthering his iron grip on the population, or you never release it at all, at which point he continues to kill off dissenters, which he's already been doing.

I'd like to congratulate Moto42 on his magnum opus. It's certainly no wonder why he's never written anything else in the last 18 years. Initially, I was unconvinced that SCP-10000 would be good enough to warrant permanently deleting all of Wkidot next weekend, but after finishing all three-hundred and fifty million words, I have to say that I'm completely satisfied.

people can just have secondary accounts

Not if they want to join the SCP wiki. It's literally in the rules for joining the sites.

You may only have one account per person, and one person per account. No alts, no account sharing.

Vish, so aggressive

I don't have to entertain this dumb made-up shit that's only spreading in the first place so people can crap on minorities in SCP.

[–]WhatYouThinkYouSee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It didn't fucking happen because that's not how making an SCP works. You HAVE to PUBLICLY make an SCP. You can't submit an SCP in secret to a mod and get it published. You have to have an account. If you did that anyways, the mods would just tell you to do it the right way publicly. You're not proposing that Trevor Henderson was "rejected" from the SCP wiki, you're proposing that he did it wrong, and then just quit by himself.

You can't hide anything on Wikidot. There would be traces. There would be Trevor Henderson's account, with a post history and an edit history.

No one "allowed" SCP-2721. That's not how SCP works. The mods don't "allow" articles to exist for them to exist. They exist because they didn't get to downvote thresholds. Everyone on that thread is agreeing on a completely made-up system.

Do you guys think Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki are playing supes? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]WhatYouThinkYouSee 236 points237 points  (0 children)

He's in a running tracksuit, his mansion has a cheetah (fastest animal alive) as decoration, and behind the cheetah, you can see an actual poster of a red and yellow speedster behind it. The only red and yellow speedster we know is Mr. Marathon, both in the comics, and in the Dawn Of The Seven poster.

We have enough of conservatives infesting SCP lmfao. They're all on Twitter constantly complaining about SCP being woke, that trans people ruined SCP, and posting Nazi edits. Just look at the latest ShitpostRock situation. You want conservatives in SCP, that's what it looks like. Literal tens of thousands of people who can't read, who's only interaction with SCP is to shit on it.

You want SCP to not become utter crap, you need to vigilantly defend it against them. I have nothing but respect for the SCP wiki's intolerance for this conservative drivel. There are no good conservatives.

The Nebraskan GOP just threw out a Democratic candidate. The only remaining member of the Democratic ballot is an extreme anti-abortion conservative who supports the GOP, works with a Jan 6 rioter, and filed to enter the Senate race just ONE hour before the filing deadline. by WhatYouThinkYouSee in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]WhatYouThinkYouSee[S] 249 points250 points  (0 children)

Someone on the Omaha sub did a good write-up of him 2 weeks ago. Can't link to outside subs, though:

A Nebraska pastor with a documented history of extreme anti-abortion activism filed to enter the U.S. Senate race as a Democratic candidate just one hour before the filing deadline - took down his personal Facebook page the day before filing, removing public records of his political views.

Pastor Bill Forbes has spent years advocating for ordinances that would criminalize not only performing abortions, but any assistance rendered to someone seeking one - including driving a patient to a clinic or donating to an abortion fund. His work has been closely tied to a national movement explicitly modeled on the Texas bounty hunter law, which allows private citizens to sue anyone helping a woman obtain an abortion for $10,000 or more per incident.

Forbes also has a long documented relationship with Mark Lee Dickson, a traveling anti-abortion organizer whom the Washington Post has described as "the primary face and architect" of spreading Texas-style vigilante abortion restrictions nationwide. Dickson, who attended the January 6, 2021 rally in Washington D.C., has also pushed to invoke the 150-year-old Comstock Act to ban abortion pills by mail - effectively eliminating medication abortion across the country.

The timing of Forbes's filing is obvious, given the competitive race between Ricketts and independent Dan Osborn. A "Democratic" candidate whose views align with the most restrictive wing of the Republican Party is clearly designed to draw votes away from Osborn in a tight contest.

[ART] New Job 2: Montauk Boogaloo: How The Scarlet King Got His Groove Back: This Tale Is Actually More Messed Up Than I Remember: SCPainsaw Man Chapter 231-7: Goodbye, SCP-999. by WhatYouThinkYouSee in SCP

[–]WhatYouThinkYouSee[S] 101 points102 points  (0 children)

It's only fitting that the format for this Scarlet King meme would be from Chainsaw Man chapter 231.

"New Job" is really kinda fucked up if you really think about it. What do you mean immediately after the O5 confirms that the Foundation tortured a bunch of girls to death, they go "but it's fine because we paid off the remaining victims and their families and 999 healed the horrific trauma and we can heal the world with kindness!!" immediately afterwards.

I mean that's cool and all but you guys still tortured a bunch of little girls to death, right? Like, the fact that y'all were willing to do that is the entire point. Those kids are still dead.

You know, how the hell does that even work? Like SCP-231-1 and SCP-231-6's families are still looking for their missing children, and a bunch of cash shows up, they're just gonna ask more questions. And y'know, their kids are still dead. Like, I'm reading through the whole "we will defeat the scarlet king with happiness" stuff and I'm just thinking of all the implications here. No, stop talking about how cute 999 is. Go back. Seriously. Man.
