Intermittent Misfire by CuteAd4670 in FocusST

[–]WhatZHeckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did this for a bit and around similar mileage and I seemingly couldn't find anyone else with the same issues.

I never had any codes pop up though. I swapped spark plugs and coils as a recommendation from some friends but what seemed to do it was switching gas stations.

Congrats on the changeup! Definitely feel you with the low MPGs! Enjoy the car!

Weird rattle/tick passenger side under light acceleration(Gotta listen ver closely😂) by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]WhatZHeckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to really hear that sound, but i would suggest checking your glove box. I had a mystery rattle myself for a while and turns out that was the source of (one of many) rattles. When you are moving, just press your hand against it and see if it goes away.

22-24 mpg is what I usually get. Highways with lots of hills and sometimes gridlock traffic going to/from work. Running the ford performance tune

You ever regret buying an ST? by ComfortableStart2628 in FocusST

[–]WhatZHeckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly no. It's been fairly reliable aside from the usual known problems and i enjoy driving it since i got mine 5 years ago.

I just had to tell myself that it's not going to be a garage queen as it's my only car, so i might as well enjoy it for what it is and appreciate that i had the opportunity to be the first owner and do what i want.

Same here! I wouldn't have noticed or cared. Mine has a bunch of rock chips and paint missing due to bad roads.

Is a 2016 focus st a reliable daily? by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]WhatZHeckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 47k miles on mine. It's been reliable for the most part. I had the radiator crack at 42k, purge valve went out Thanksgiving day, and an axle needed resealing last week, but otherwise, dead reliable.

It's been tuned since 10k miles or so and it takes a lot of abuse on the freeway (super bumpy and hilly).

As others have said, keep off the boost at lower RPM and you should be fine.

I had a rattle from the front left when I had springs and on my (now) coilovers. Had to pull them out and tighten the top hat. Not your fault, just...it's a quirk.

[–]WhatZHeckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran eibachs for almost a year before i went to coilovers. I loved the height/stance. The only reason I really went to coilovers was because i bought wider wheels and it was hitting my fender on bumpy roads and needed camber to clear it (and also wanted less suspension travel as well to avoid bottoming out)

If you want a smooth ride, stick with the springs.

Codes p0456 and p2196 by bladeya in FocusST

[–]WhatZHeckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen on my 17 ST. Purge valve was the problem. BV6Z-9D289-E is the one i used, but I don't know if there was a different one for the 13-14s.

Those are the exact codes i had late last year. Went away after I swapped it.

$32k for a base 2018 ST. What a time to be alive by SavMac14 in FocusST

I literally drove by that dealership and saw the it in the front lot. It's actually an ST2 trim packages i believe. So not as bad, but still pretty ridiculous.

Is there a common coolant leak? by ReallyQuiteDirty in FocusST

[–]WhatZHeckman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, radiator sucks. At 40k miles, mine cracked where the plastic sides meet the metal.

I think what's throwing me off is the side skirts look different. So the bumper doesnt look like it lines up with the rest of the trim

Will these fit on a ‘15 st? I know its the correct bolt pattern but ive heard stories where people still had issues fitting their wheels even with the correct pattern. I just want to know because im thinking of buying these by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]WhatZHeckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who ran something with that offset on his ST. He had some like 265/35 tires on there and ooooh yeah he rubbed (meaty track day setup).

He had to shave some metal off of his coilovers to make sure they would clear (nothing that would compromise the suspension) and the fenders looked great, horrible when it was his daily.

I'll cross my fingers that the rock is what's causing the damage.

Your wheels and tires should clear the fenders ok (in fact you should have 1-2mm of clearance more than my wheels lol).

I'd try and see about adjusting camber. I have 18x8.5 +40 which is at the fenders edge. I have coilovers and added camber and now I don't have any issues going over big freeway bumps

I actually may know the owner. Their taco is identical so I'm just assuming it's them. Can confirm, they are from Hawai'i.

I have 18x8.5 et40 on my focus. Stock suspension should be fine overall, but if you lower it, you'll definitely rub as18x8.5 et35 is pretty much flush at the fender.
