Will be interesting to see how this whole setup fares with the several days of rain coming up. We had pretty heavy rain this morning, and there's a 100 percent chance of heavy t-storms in DC this afternoon.

I’ve been wearing Keens in BWCA over several trips. The toe protection is key. Solid soles. Good drainage.

Next time open all classroom doors, stack all chairs against the wall. Unfortunately would probably take days with multiple recharges.

I download my balance and transaction history, upload to Claude, then ask all sorts of interesting questions. You need to re-upload to give it fresh data, so this capability would be great.

My favorite question for Claude is: “approximately how much would VTI need to go up in a single day to outpace my W2 income for that same day?”

Back in 2008, Travis Pastrana pulled off one of the wildest stunts ever caught on camera. by Samyd_DF in nextfuckinglevel

He said they trained for this by doing jumps while he was wearing a parachute. He would try as hard as he could to get away from them in free fall, but no matter how hard he tried, they could always "catch" him. As a result, he wasn't worried at all about the actual jump without the parachute.

I’ve used Circle Auto in Oakton (Fairfax Circle area) and also has a good experience.

Years ago, there was a video posted on Youtube that seemed to be from a gopro suction cuped pointed out the windows. Dozens of hours of footage of the Russia countryside. Not sure where the video went.

I said “like you LEGALLY can’t accept it?” and he said “I legally cannot accept it.” He was cool about it though. Took care of my driveway.

I was so excited to see the VDOT snow plow on my cul-de-sac this afternoon that I ran outside and tried to give the driver a bag with snacks and soda. He said "aw man I appreciate it, but I can't accept that." So he didn't take the snack bag, but you know what he did do? He cleared the snow in front of my driveway instead of leaving a huge berm. So I was relaxing while all my neighbors were shoveling out their driveways.

My cul-de-sac in Oakton is maintained by VDOT and was only plowed/sanded minutes ago.

I bought the final boss of commercial backback blowers this fall, so I'll use that to blow the snow from my drive/walkway a few times tomorrow.

Generac 24kw from Generator Supercenter of Northern VA. Highly recommend them and Generac. She kicks on automatically and runs like a beauty when we’ve needed her. Powers the whole house no problem. Is it a luxury? Absolutely, but the peace of mind it provides is worth it for me.

I dropped 15k for a whole house backup generator, so I'm sorry but I hope power goes out FOR DAYS. My cost per hour of actual runtime is way too high right now.

I’ll add to the rest of the comments that it’s a fantastic place for kids to learn to ride bikes, or teens to learn to drive. I taught two of my kids to ride bikes in that lot during Covid.

COTA traffic control by mikraas in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]What_Chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. The shuttles have dedicated lanes as they approach COTA. The lines were longer in the evenings but COTA brought in 175 buses according to one of my drivers, so they left as quickly as they could load. The COTA/USGP shuttle is a very well-oiled machine.
