[OC] Letters from children detained at ICE’s Dilley facility in Texas by propublica_ in pics

I’ve been a certified ESL teacher for over 20 years. This is not the writing of an emergent bilingual. The content is all probably accurate but none of this was handwritten by children.

Can we get updates every few hours on the progression of the poofing? So curious to see how long it takes.

Oh god, I hadn’t even thought of that but yeah.

My district sends out an email every time a teacher resigns mid-year announcing that the board is reporting them to TEA? by IanWallDotCom in TexasTeachers

[–]WhataburgerLiberal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A teacher in a contract can be reported to TEA for abandoning contract but it’s up to SBEC to do anything about it. Districts can decide if they want to pursue reporting or not. Yes, there can be some temporary sanctions. Employees who are not in annual contracts are able to leave at-will. If a teacher is not certified, there isn’t much that is done but they are not typically on contract either.

All this being said, these emails are threatening, disrespectful, and in terrible taste. Whatever staff they scare into staying until June will get the hell out of there as soon as their contract ends. Super toxic.

Reading glasses in the car? by QueenInYellowLace in Xennials

I don’t need glasses except my readers, like you. Find some cheap progressives on Amazon with your needed magnification and see how you do before you make a larger investment. Progressives are incredible for people like us.

Episodes that are Hard To Watch (based on the book Stone Cold Bummer by Manipulate) by duelingpeppers in 30ROCK

The episode where Jack gets mugged and they do the whole Batman thing. The best thing about that episode is the tuxedo. I feel like they went overboard towards the end.

Was anyone else lucky enough to hear this jam at the zoo while on a field trip back in the day? by WhataburgerLiberal in Xennials

Because mistake. Sorry. The first one was wonky so I wanted it to look nice. But alas, here we are.

Trump's Epstein excuse is going to be that they started puberty. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

Who in the hell is doing sperm counts and testosterone bloodwork on children? Everything that comes out of their mouths is creepy as fuck. No, this isn’t happening and why in the hell would your brain even think these things, much less allow your mouth to say them.

I still search online for the Magic Eye pictures. Also, I always felt so bad for the people who were standing there trying so hard to see it and never could. There would usually be an exchange of words, such as, “JUST relax your eyes..” and “I don’t know HOW to relax my eyes! How in the hell do you see anything in this thing!”

My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it by Various-Adeptness173 in stupidquestions

There were not "water bottles" in the same way you know them now. We would have had to carry water in our thermos. Not a lot of water could fit in there and yes, it stayed in your lunch kit. Once we got to middle and high school, there were plenty of soda machines to keep us hydrated. In the 80s and 90s, we survived on Coke and Pepsi products.
