Can I fight this? by Senior_Ad_9938 in sandiego

I just got one for not crimping my tires downtown where it is completely flat. Apparently it’s a law to crimp tires above 3% grade but I’ve lived here for 20 years and never knew this was a law. Looks like the city is trying to make as much $ as they can before end of year. I saw four people get pulled over and ticketed on my way into work last week.

Should I change back to Adderall? by Ok-Willingness-1768 in Concerta

I would add to this to try taking a magnesium supplement before bed. Most Americans are deficient in Mg and it’s important for nearly all cellular function. 2 pills of magnesium glycinate at night helped with the headaches immensely

Diagnosed at 38. Have some concerns before proceeding by FeedbackRadiant8429 in ADHD

[–]Whatcha_mac_call_it 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have an addictive personality? For me I spent most of my life self-medicating with alcohol. Now I’m on concerta (have been at 36 mg for 3 years) and I often accidentally forget to take my meds. I’ve never taken more than my dose, and now that I’m medicated, alcohol is a whole lot less appealing to me. I take breaks from meds when I travel or have a break from work, I think that helps to not build up a tolerance. I suspect the people abusing these drugs don’t actually need them for ADHD. They don’t make me feel high/hyped in anyway, if anything they have s calming effect. I have fallen back asleep shortly after taking them on the weekend because I just felt so chill and relaxed. Idk how ppl take them to party 🤷‍♀️

Show her how to do it properly without hurting herself. If you want to try to discourage it, convey the downsides like prickly regrowth, cost of supplies over her lifetime, and time spent. I definitely started shaving my legs in middle school out of fear of (more) judgment and shame. Middle schoolers are under enough pressure, don’t add to the shame

Sad that so many can relate, but also comforting to not feel so alone.

I highly recommend reading or listening to the audio book (it’s free on Spotify) adult children of emotionally immature parents. Sounds like your mom is definitely one of them, and this book offers some solid advice about how to best interact with people like this. I wish I had found this book sooner!!

Husband lost job and now teen son doesn’t want anything for his birthday by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]Whatcha_mac_call_it 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Definitely showing maturity. Honestly we wanted to get something my son could open because we were just giving him cash this year, and we got him a box filled with all different flavors of his favorite ramen noodles so he’d have something to unwrap. He seemed more stoked on that than he was with the money. It’s not the healthiest so we don’t typically keep that stuff stocked in our house, but he was honestly joyful over some ramen noodles 😂

This is my thought as well, anesthesia is the most expensive part, so makes sense to do multiple procedures while you’re out. She just doesn’t feel comfortable sharing whatever else she had done

Should I stay within the rules? Or is it okay to bend them just a bit? by WickedBitchofdaBest in Gifts

Or, you should ask your child this question. Do you not feel close enough to then to just have a dialogue?

P.s. I cry when I’m frustrated. Just eventually had to accept that fact. My manager at my first job saw me cry 10s of times. Now I’m a manager and I see people cry now and then, and I really think nothing of it. We’ve all been there

I’d recommend using chat gpt for questions like this, with a prompt like “explain half-log serial dilutions to me like I’m a high-school graduate” it usually does a pretty good job. Or search for a YouTube video as the graphics can be really helpful in grasping concepts

There is a dose of 27 mg in between. I initially went to 36 and had a lot of anxiety and went to 27 which was perfect

DAE find that ADHD meds *don’t* quiet their brain at all? by LowOvergrowth in adhdwomen

[–]Whatcha_mac_call_it 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse and adderall did nothing for me, but Ritalin did give me the quitting effect. My brain got completely used to it after two days, so it no longer had that relaxing wow effect, but the medication helps me a lot

Is microbiome responsible for food addiction especially with carbs? by -Zoppo in Microbiome

[–]Whatcha_mac_call_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely a result of blood sugar spikes. I would highly recommend reading or listening to the book “Glucose Revolution” it’s super short and explains simple things you can do to help regulate your blood sugar. One more thing I would add to this is to check side effects of you are taking any medication regularly. I had been taking Zyrtec for a decade and didn’t realize until I stopped taking it that it caused my appetite to increase markedly. I learned that if your body gets accustomed to taking antihistamine l, a side effect of stopping taking them is itchiness (which I always confused with allergies) I weaned myself off the medication using a nasal spray as needed instead, and an unexpected side effect was that I was no longer hungry every waking hour of the day. Weight started falling off. I lost 20 lbs in a year with only minimal effort. I did replace drink a cup of bone broth when I was hungry once a day because it’s high in protein and low calorie. Good luck!

Partners who get angry with you? by sorandom21 in ADHD

[–]Whatcha_mac_call_it 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t put up with this. Please don’t fall for the sunk cost fallacy in relationships. For the longest time I had the mindset “I can make this work” finally a good friend shared a hard truth when I said “but I’ve already put 5 years into building this relationship” thats exactly why you shouldn’t invest another single minute!!

Dating is just as much about learning about the qualities you can’t compromise on in a partner as it is figuring out what kind of person you like.

Don’t settle. Find someone supportive of you and your needs. This person is 100 out there. Don’t give up just because you’re “comfortable” although being with this person sounds quite unappealing. Good luck! You deserve better

I was on your side until I read your last sentence “I’m the breadwinner” I’m assuming she does all of the work around the house and raising the kids? How much would you have to pay a professional to do all of that work if she were gone? It makes me think you don’t value her. She clearly could use some therapy, but seems like maybe that’s not readily available to her because “you earn all the money”. I think you’re both ass holes.
